Mary Meeker’s Bond Capital seals big fund size increase with $2bn Fund II close

Date:

Bond Capital, the venture capital house founded by former executive at Kleiner Perkins, has scored a big fund size increase through the $2bn final close of its second fund.

The firm was said to be eyeing $1.5bn for Fund II, but has closed the vehicle on almost double the $1.25bn it gathered for its debut fund just two years ago.

Venture capital veteran Mary Meeker left Kleiner to co-found Bond three years ago, taking with her the digital growth team including investment partners Mood Rowghani and Noah Knauf, as well as HR professional Juliet De Baubigny.

The San Francisco-based firm says it looks to identify global trends that drive innovation and change, aiming to support founders throughout their entire life cycle of innovation and growth.

Its investments to date have included online graphic design platform Canva, which raised a $60m round last summer valuing it at $6bn.

Other portfolio businesses include Byju’s, Checkr, Hippo and Revolut.
