Jhin pulls off takedown using Janna’s Ult in Ultimate Spellbook

Published

on

League of Legends’ latest limited-time mode, Ultimate Spellbook, has produced some truly impressive plays with its unique champion setups.

In the game mode, players get to select a new ultimate for their champion between three randomly selected options at the start of the game. Taking Jhin, one player chose to use Janna’s Ult Moonsoon, which turned out to be the perfect combination.

When dueling Fizz in the mid lane, Jhin had set up a handful of traps against the river wall. With flash before a perfectly timed ult, Jhin was able to launch Fizz into these traps and execute a combination of abilities and take down the enemy champ.

Once in position, it didn’t take many abilities for Jhin to completely erase Fizz’s health. This is definitely one of the better plays we’ve seen recently and it wouldn’t have been possible without the unique circumstances of Ultimate Spellbook.

The game mode will remain for the rest of July and finish up on Aug. 9, so if you plan on trying these unique combinations, you may want to act soon.

Akshan buffed again in today’s League 11.15 micropatch due to ‘very low win rate’

Published

on

Akshan was buffed just one day after his League of Legends debut—and it seems like that wasn’t enough.

Lead game designer Jeevun “Jag” Sidhu discussed a second Akshan buff today, detailing the precise changes that are now live with an 11.15 micropatch. And due to the new champion’s “very low win rate,” he’s getting some more love.

“We were very cautious of his revive mechanic in terms of release balance,” Jag said. “That said, he’s still at a very low win rate and so may have been too conservative.”

In an attempt to increase the mid laner’s impact, Riot is increasing Akshan’s attack speed per level from 2.5 percent to four percent. His Avengerang’s (Q) damage to minions is also being increased at later levels, bumping up from 40 to 70 percent to 40 to 90 percent.

Akshan is intended to fall off during the later stages of a match, like AD assassins often do. But it seems his effectiveness steeply declines as the match goes on. The Q buff should help him clear waves more efficiently, allowing him to splitpush better after the laning phase. The attack speed buff should also greatly increase his late-game damage output.

The Rogue Sentinel was initially buffed in a July 23 micropatch that targeted his base health, base AD, and Q cooldown. While the devs hoped his win rate would increase by roughly two percent, it seems like he’s still underperforming. Akshan mid is sitting at a low 39.2-percent win rate in Platinum ranks and above, according to Champion.gg.

A new champion’s win rate often starts off low as players learn their mechanics and abilities. Akshan’s win rate should improve over time, but the devs will reassess his game impact in the next patch.

Riot Games finally announced the long-awaited 10th region for Legends of Runeterra on Tuesday, alongside a roadmap for what’s to come in the rest of 2021.

Players have known for a while now that Runeterra is missing its 10th and final region, and there has been plenty of lively debate on which one it’ll be. Now, two weeks before the next expansion is set to release, Riot settled the question with a video introducing the new region, Bandle City, and what they have planned for the rest of the year.

In the video, Riot confirmed the next expansion will feature Bandle City and is called “Beyond the Bandlewood.” The expansion is set to release in two weeks’ time, during Patch 2.14.0 in August.

This decision seems to be great news for some players and disappointing for others. Riot reassured players that even though Ixtal and the Void won’t be added to Runeterra, every champion from League of Legends will be added to the game and find a home in the region that makes the most sense for them.

The new expansion will feature four total releases, including a special release in November alongside “a major PvE event unlike anything we’ve tried before.” The two releases following that will occur in December and February of next year.

Aside from the expansion, Riot announced a new, upgraded Lab of Legends mode called The Saltwater Scourge, which takes players on a RPG-like journey ending in a boss battle with Gangplank. This is Runeterra’s most expansive PvE mode yet, and it’s already live and available for all players to try out as of Patch 2.13.0.

A more detailed roadmap for the rest of 2021 also outlines the releases and events to come, including an expansion event pass in August, the Legends of Runeterra World Championships in September, and Battle Academia skins in October.

Whether you’re a competitive player or a casual player who wants to enjoy PvE, it seems Legends of Runeterra has something in store for everyone. Keep on the lookout for teasers of the next set, and an upcoming update on balance patches.

How Many People Can Play Tribes of Midgard Together?

How many people can play Tribes of Midgard?

After initially being revealed during the E3 Gearbox presentation as a brand-new action survival RPG game, the co-op and crossplay details surrounding Tribes of Midgard have remained hot topics in all of gaming as the title remains less than a day removed from its official launch.

As hinted in its title, Tribes of Midgard invites players running solo, or with up to nine others in a tribe, to take on the role of glorious Viking heroes in Valhalla to fight giants and beasts in classic, top-town combat.

Along with crafting, building and progression systems, players will be able to unlock and choose from eight unique Viking classes as they set out to save the world from Ragnarök, adjusting for the various boss battles and unique weather effects that occur within the game’s vast, procedurally-generated world.

While the difficulty of monsters and giants is scaled for those who want to play the game solo, co-op is surely the way to go in Saga Mode as tribes can divide and conquer the world of Norse at the same time.

Aside from simply covering each others’ backs in nightly village defense holds, gathering resources, leveling up village NPCs, completing quests, constructing defenses and more, there is simply too much for one Viking to accomplish on their own before the arrival of the Fimbulwinter—an eternal winter where the world freezes and the Helthings attack your village non-stop.

Where to Plant Wiretaps in Fortnite

Published

Fortnite

With the release of Fortnite Season 7 players can expect a new host of Epic Quests to complete, including the planting of wiretaps throughout the map. These quests give players a significant amount of experience points, and knowing where to plant wiretaps can help speed up the questing process.

Each applicable location for wiretaps players can visit will allow for the planting of up to three wiretaps, which gives players the option to visit just one location to complete their quest, as opposed to needing to hop all over the map.

Players will be able to see wiretaps marked by a transparent blue box with which the player can interact to place the wiretap. The sets of three wiretap locations are found relatively close to each other in each area on the map, so placing all three shouldn’t take players much time. Locations with satellites allow players to place one wiretap at the base of the satellite dish as well, so be on the lookout in those three locations.

There are five map areas players can look for each triple set of wiretap locations which are:
