IT Exec Says Ex-Micron Worker’s Laptop Exposed IP Theft

By Bonnie Eslinger (March 1, 2022, 10:50 PM EST) — A former Micron information security officer testified Tuesday in a criminal trial accusing a Chinese chipmaker of economic espionage that after numerous workers left the American semiconductor company, his team discovered one worker had downloaded files from a company laptop and run data-wiping software.

J.R. Tietsort, Micron Technology Inc.’s former chief information security officer, said he was asked by higher-ups to audit the computers of several former employees, including one engineer who had access to trade secrets and highly sensitive data.
