The sellers of a Rostrevor home have pocketed almost $400,000 more than they expected after the popular property was snapped up at auction for a million-dollar price.
The five-bedroom house at 26 Tyringa Ave sold for $1.48m under the hammer at the weekend – $391,000 above its reserve price.
Ray White Norwood agent Linda Clemente, who sold the property with Oliver Bishop, said the sale price was well beyond what the interstate sellers were expecting.

She said they were prepared to sell the property for its council valuation, which was just under the $1m mark.
“Out of the 30 registered bidders, six came to auction day to participate, with the winning bid secured by a local family who knew the street and the neighbours, and valued the property even higher than what they purchased for,” she said.
“The family who bought it, it just suited them to a ‘T’.”
The five bedroom home is on an 880sq m block and has two bathrooms, multiple living areas and a double garage.
According to property records, it last sold in September 2005 for $325,000.

Ms Clemente said it stood out to prospective buyers for several reasons, including its size and location.
“It was very popular, we saw over 130 people throughout the campaign,” she said.
Ms Clemente said limited properties for sale in area and the cost of building bumped the property’s price up.
“The cost of building is just extraordinary,” she said.
Latest PropTrack data shows Rostrevor’s median house price stands at $861,150.
