Fortnite Season 6 allows players to tame the wild roaming Boars that have taken up residence on the island.
“Primal” has reverted Fortnite Island to a time before humans changed the wild landscape to suit their needs—when feral beasts ruled the land. While this may seem daunting, Epic Games has placed a few unique ways to keep players alive in this harsh new environment.
In fact, with a little strategy and a whole lot of patience, players can turn the great unknown into their greatest achievement—and they can start by taming it.

Taming a boar in Fortnite is 99% identical to taming a wolf. The only difference is the type of food players need to catch its attention.
Boars will eat any vegetable—or, if unavailable, fruit—players have on hand. This includes corn, apples, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, and all the other green foods players didn’t like as children. Local farms around the map should have whatever they require. Pretty much anything from there is a safe bet.
It should be noted that, like wolves, boars are hostile when approached. Players should be mindful when approaching a drove as all members will attack at once. What’s worse: if players tame a single individual while in combat with the group, they may turn on their former comrade before players can enjoy its company.
We’ve broken down the step to tame a boar below:
- Find a Boar.
- Isolate it if necessary.
- Throw it some food.
- Wait for it to eat the food.
- Once eating, approach it and wait for the “Tame” prompt.
- Hit “Tame.”
Tamed boars will follow their owner all over the map and aid them in combat. Players can only have one tamed animal at any given time.
