This classic Darwin elevated has hit the Top End market with a custom kitchen, a big pool and huge deck surrounded by greenery.

The three-bedroom home at 10 Matthews Rd, Malak, sits is on an 804 sqm fenced block with chicken coop, mature fruit trees and garden shed.

Owner Becky Hedland-Thomas said the property had been a fabulous home for her family.

“It’s a green paradise,” she said.

“My favourite part is the deck because you’re up among the trees.

“I call it the treehouse.

“Anywhere you look, there are trees all around.

“Wildlife will come down and eat the jackfruit just off the deck and you get an up close view.”

Upstairs, the home has three bedrooms with built-in robes, airconditioning and ceiling fans, and there is a family bathroom and separate toilet.

The open plan living, dining and kitchen space is also airconditioned and has Cyprus pine floors and a plenty of big windows that allow light to flood in.

“There’s nice airflow through the house because of the windows on all sides,” Ms Hedland-Thomas said.

French doors opens to the big timber balcony with fans, servery window to the kitchen and a view over the pool.

The updated kitchen has African mahogany benchtops and stainless steel appliances.

“The kitchen was fully stripped and renovated in 2019,” Ms Hedland-Thomas said.

“We used locally sourced African mahogany that fell in one of the cyclones and someone in Humpty Doo had it slabbed properly.

“The pandanus trees etched in the metal doors of the cupboards under the sink were put there to honour the two massive pandanus that shaded the pool for 15 years while we lived there, until they succumbed to old age.

“It was like swimming in Mataranka springs.

“They were as tall as the house and so gorgeous to watch when in the kitchen or on deck.

“Whoever buys the home should plant new ones.”

Under the house there is a double carport, enclosed laundry and plenty of work and entertainment space.

The pool is surrounded by pavers and there is a covered area in the pool yard for day beds.

The property comes with a fully automated reticulation system in the gardens along with mature fruit trees, including jackfruit, star fruit, purple dragon fruit, bananas, custard apple and black sapote.

The home has solar power with new panels installed in 2018.

The property is close to Northlakes Shopping Centre and just down the road from the Marrara Sport Complex.

“It’s so convenient to everything – the city, the beach, shops and the airport,” Ms Hedland-Thomas said.
