Govt’s proposed changes will dish out millions more free carbon credits

Proposed changes to the Climate Change Response Act would give millions more free carbon credits to big polluters and contradict Aotearoa’s emissions reduction goals, according to an expert.

Christina Hood, head of Compass Climate and former head of the International Energy Agency’s Climate Change Unit, says the free allocation framework in the Emissions Trading Scheme is not fit for purpose.
