‘Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord’ Gets New (Official) Title Ahead of 2023 Launch

Date:

It’s Halloween, meaning ’tis the season for all manner of spectres and ghosts to roam free. Troubled by any strange noises last night? Experiencing feelings of dread in your basement or attic?

Maybe you’re sensing that Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is on its way. Yes, the game-formerly-known-as Ghostbusters VR now has an official title ahead of its 2023 launch on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro—and some new art to whet your appetite.

We already knew Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord would take us to San Francisco. That little tidbit was revealed alongside the game itself at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase earlier this year. But the Golden Gate Bridge is more than decorative here, as developer nDreams confirmed today that you’ll be busting ghosts at the famed landmark during the campaign, along with other iconic locations around the city by the Bay. And then there’s the titular Ghost Lord, looking ominous at the top of this art…

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord pits you and your proton pack against the newest, biggest villain inside a totally immersive VR Ghostbusters universe,” says Jake Zim, Senior Vice President of Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures Entertainment. “We’re excited to give fans this first look.”

You’ll need both the tools and the talent to stop the Ghost Lord from wreaking havoc. Luckily you still have some time to prepare. Start sewing a name tag onto your boilersuit, make sure your proton pack is ready to go, and get ready to confront a horde of malevolent ghosts—either alone or with up to three friends. We’ll be back with more details ahead of Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord’s launch next year, so stay tuned. You never know when the call might come in.
