Freedom Financial Funds Joins Homes 4 Families in Helping Veterans…

Date:

I thought it was a terrific opportunity to say thank you to people that served our nation and needed a bit of help to get a start on the pathway to the American middle class and homeownership.

Freedom Financial Funds, LLC is showing its support for veterans by joining Homes 4 Families’ next fundraising adventure, Over the Edge for Veterans, on October 30, 2021. Costumes are encouraged for this Halloween-themed event to take place at Hilton Universal City, where participants will rappel down the Hilton tower and GoPro cameras will capture every moment of the action.

Sponsorship opportunities begin at $2,500 and participant opportunities begin at $1,500. Donors can feel great about their contributions, knowing that Homes 4 Families is audited by a third party, and only 2 to 4% of its annual funding goes to administration and fundraising.

Homes 4 Families is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to meet the significant need for affordable housing and no-cost services that equip veteran families to thrive in civilian life. Since the organization was founded in 2008, it has helped more than 386 low-income families achieve the American Dream of home ownership. Homes 4 Families works closely with the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), corporate sponsors and individual donors to make these dreams a reality.

Michael Klein, CEO of Freedom Financial Funds, LLC serves on the Homes 4 Families board. After being introduced to Homes 4 Families CEO Donna Deutchman, Klein said he found her passion for helping veterans own homes contagious. Klein has long been a supporter of community-building initiatives with the City of Los Angeles, and he responded to the Homes 4 Families call to action with his own enthusiasm. “I thought it was a terrific opportunity to say thank you to people that served our nation and needed a bit of help to get a start on the pathway to the American middle class and homeownership.”

Freedom Financial Funds is proud to contribute to the social and economic wellbeing of the communities it serves by supporting worthy organizations like Homes 4 Families. “My partners and I are extremely grateful for the opportunities that we have had,” Klein said. “The four of us come from very different backgrounds, but at the end of the day, we have each had a break that gave us a chance to succeed. I think Homes 4 Families gives our veterans that break by helping a low-income veteran earn their way into an owned home. Homes 4 Families makes the veteran put in 500 hours of service toward the ‘sweat’ equity in the house. Like the partners at Freedom, the vets have to work hard to achieve their dreams. We like that, but we also love the idea that we can help them get that break everyone needs. It is quite rewarding to see the results.”

About Homes 4 Families

Homes 4 Families is committed to building resiliency, economic growth, neighborhoods and homes for veteran families. The Homes 4 Families Enriched Neighborhood® model creates financial sustainability and upward mobility for veteran families by combining permanent housing with wraparound services in a supportive neighborhood. These holistic services include financial literacy, health and wellness and vet-to-vet support, and help to ensure that veterans become and remain successful homeowners. All services are well-researched and tested, and they are unique enough to be registered/copyrighted.

In 2018, the program delivered 1,000 hours of financial education, 300 hours of Certified Emergency Response Team training and 2,900 hours of trauma-informed care, while giving 325 veteran family members a place to call home.

Homes 4 Families must raise approximately $80,000 for every home it delivers to a veteran. The organization is able to achieve its mission through grants from large companies and foundations, gifts from individuals and proceeds from two big fundraisers it hosts each year. Klein commented, “Over the Edge is one of those fundraisers, and by giving, a person will help us raise money to complete more houses. But the event is also an adrenaline rush. Imagine rappelling down the face of a 25-story tower! It’s a fun event, and the proceeds go to a great cause — helping the veterans that served our nation get the chance to own a home of their own. It’s quite rewarding.”

Veterans deserve to have a share of the American Dream they helped to preserve! Sign up for the event, become a volunteer or donate today at: https://www.homes4families.org.
