Luke Bortoli, former chief financial officer at Afterpay and now on the board of Beforepay, has sold his Tamarama home post-auction and is bound for California.
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom three-level house with double garage at 37 Fletcher St fetched $6.25m through McGrath Double Bay’s Simon Exleton.
The sale came five days after it passed in at auction for $5.85m last Saturday.
Exleton had been guiding $6m.
At the auction, there’d been three active parties, with bidding opening at $5.5m.

Following the auction, two of the bidders increased their offers to $6m, with negotiating continuing ahead of the successful exchange at $6.25m.
Interestingly, the buyers are downsizers from Avalon on the northern beaches.
Luke Bortoli and his wife, Emma, sold their Bronte sub-penthouse in the Winbourne building for $4.4m — a building record — more than a month ago.
The couple are heading to the US to work on projects relating to the third generation of the World Wide Web.
Records show that Exleton had sold them the Tamarama home for $2,885,000 in 2015.
The freestanding residence, designed to enhance the extensive district and ocean views, was just a minute to the beach and Tamarama village.
The gourmet Caesarstone kitchen featured Miele gas fittings; the lower level rumpus room/cinema was ideal as a teenage retreat and the master bedroom had an adjoining home office, that extended to terraces.
