fnatic hand FaZe their first loss as four teams are tied at 2-1 in EPL Group C

Date:

fnatic have managed to build on their win on Saturday against BIG in Group C of ESL Pro League Season 14 with a 2-0
triumph versus FaZe on Sunday following a strong CT comeback on the opening map.

The win pushes fnatic onto a 2-1 record and ties up BIG, FaZe, Natus Vincere and themselves heading into the remaining matches in the group, in which fnatic are still to play against the two teams currently sitting on a 0-2 record at the bottom, mousesports and Evil Geniuses.

Jackinho ended the series with a 1.34 rating and 34 AWP kills

FaZe set the tone on the opening map of Overpass with a 12-3 CT half, with Håvard “rain” Nygaard and Helvijs “broky” Saukants putting forward 32 kills between them with rain managing to go 5-3 with opening kills as the duo locked down the A side of the map.

fnatic only picked up a single round until the back end of the half thanks to Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson collecting four kills and pulling open the A site. While poised to end the half 11-4, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken denied the final round for fnatic in a 1v2 clutch against KRIMZ and Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson.

Picking up the pistol and subsequent rounds started to give weight to fnatic‘s comeback as they repeatedly shut FaZe out of bombsites. A turning point in the second half came after Alex “ALEX” McMeekin‘s four AUG kills saved the B site and the round, forcing a timeout from FaZe.

fnatic were able to battle it back and pull ahead of FaZe at 14-13 for the first time on their own map pick. Despite Finn “karrigan” Andersen keeping the hopes for overtime alive fnatic put and end to FaZe and secured the map 16-14 and collected their second win on Overpass at Pro League as they boast a 76% win rate of rounds on the CT side on the map.

Mirage was less competitive after fnatic came out on top of a brawl-like start on their CT side. FaZe were in the lead briefly before Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin and Jackinho kicked into gear on the CT side with each managing 19 and 18 kills, respectively. FaZe were still struggling for rounds as they were on Overpass even though they won the second pistol and fnatic closed out the series with a swift 16-7 victory.
