Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has joined the list of celebrities and professional boxers to launch their Non-Fungible Token collection (NFT).
Ahead of his return to the boxing ring with Logan Paul, Mayweather intends to join the NFT craze by launching his digital collection on May 26th. He would become the third professional boxer after Muhammad Ali and Tyson Fury to launch their NFT.
IronBend, alongside Reality Gaming Group and Zytara Labs in partnered to release the Mayweather non-fungible token.
Floyd Mayweather unending relationship with crypto world
This is not the first time when the undefeated boxer has been involved with the crypto community. Years back, Floyd Mayweather partnered with tech start-up Centra Tech to raise over $25 million during its Initial Coin Offering (ICO).
Unfortunately, the ICO was a scam and Floyd Mayweather, alongside famous rapper DJ Khaled, was among the employed celebrities of the company. It has not ruined his relationship with the crypto community, however.
Mayweather’s digital artwork will be dedicated to the boxer’s legendary career and personal life, who has never tasted a loss during his reign on the ring.
Mayweather, the self-proclaimed TBE (” The Best Ever”), opined that these digital collectibles will allow his fans to be part of the” Mayweather Legacy.”
NFT becomes a thing in Sports
The NFT mania has been a very hot topic recently as many celebrities and especially world-known athletes launched their collections.
The first footballers‘ Portuguese Internationals José Fonte and Éder, are the first two footballers worldwide to launch their Non-Fungible Tokens, NFTs.
The two NFTs were made in partnership with Jedi3, and part of the revenues raised through the auction will revert to social and community support. The creative concept of both pieces was developed by the athletes themselves together with the project Jedi3.
