Experience the outright weird world of Fatum Betula

Date:

Fatum Betula Xbox

Are we old enough now to consider original PlayStation graphics as retro? Also, when you look back at those graphics now, they’re a little weird aren’t they? Fatum Betula leans heavily into this and looks like a really unique and atmospheric game. Best of all, Fatum Betula is available to download today for Xbox.

Having wowed and confused players in equal measures on PC and Nintendo Switch, Fatum Betula now arrives on Xbox consoles. In a world without any history, it is up to you to make sense of your surroundings.

Fatum Betula is an exploration game first and foremost in a similar vein to The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and What Remains of Edith Finch. It isn’t immediately obvious what needs to be done. You will need to make sense of this unfamiliar world all on your own.

In the beginning, you are given a plant that needs to be watered. How you do that and what comes next is all upto you. Fatum Betula will not tell you what is needed or hold your hand on how to get there. You will need to make your own decisions, which can affect the outcome as Fatum Betula has a total of ten different endings.

There is a warning associated with Fatum Betula. For a PEGI 7 game it delves deep into themes of death, nihilism and abuse.

That said, Fatum Betula is available to download now from the Xbox Store priced at £4.99. We will have a review very soon where we will try and make any sort of understanding what is going on in this game? Wish us luck in the comments below.

Game description

Welcome to a world without a past. Fatum Betula is an atmospheric exploration game with light puzzle elements. A magical birch is the only thing dictating the future, and it is your job to find something appropriate to feed it with. There is a total of 10 unique endings and a plethora of secrets to uncover. “The PS1 era visuals are excellent and although the art style is very different, there’s a real Ghibli-esque sense of mystical wonder to the world. Highly recommended.” -Alpha Beta Gamer WARNING! This title contains infrequent cursing and themes of nihilism, death, and abuse. This game also contains flashing images and lights that may trigger seizures for those with photosensitive epilepsy.
