Ex-San Francisco 49ers star joins private equity house Red Door Capital

Date:

Former NFL star Jeff Garcia has joined new private equity firm Red Door Capital as a senior strategic advisor, helping to manage strategic partnerships with investors and originate deal-flow.

Garcia debuted in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers in 1999, earning three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances and leading the team to the playoffs in the 2001 and 2002 seasons.

He later led the Philadelphia Eagles to the NFC East Division title and second round of the playoffs, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the NFC South title.

Red Door managing partner Richard Wolpow said, “We are excited to have Jeff become a member of the Red Door team.

“His leadership qualities as a starting quarterback, four-time CFL all-Star and four-time NFL Pro Bowl selection, bring additional diversity and leadership to our management team as we continue to build and develop our portfolio companies.

“In addition to admirable leadership qualities, Jeff has a significant number of personal contacts that will help expand Red Door’s access to capital partners and proprietary deal flow.”

Red Door made its first deal in March by backing AuthVia, a company which specialises in instant payment acceptance on contactless channels such as text, social media, chat, email, and messenger.
