Eternal Fire, TYLOO among invitees to CCT North Europe Series 1 playoffs

Date:

The playoffs of CCT North Europe Series 1 are due to begin on Friday, October 21. The 16 squads in attendance will battle it out through a single-elimination, best-of-three bracket for their chance to take home the first-place prize of $22,000 and 150 points on the North Europe regional ranking leaderboard.

Like other events in the Champion of Champions circuit, the knockout stage will be made up of eight teams, who received direct invitations to the playoffs, and another eight squads, who secured their own berths after successfully making their way through the swiss-style group stage.

XANTARES and company head into the 16-team knockout stage as the highest-rated team

Eternal Fire come into the playoff stage as the highest-rated team, with the Turkish side also recently attempting a campaign through the CCT South Europe knockout stage, where they were upset by the No. 94-ranked Websterz. The Ömer “imoRR” Karataş-led roster have consistently struggled to post solid results in recent times, notably being unable to clinch an IEM Rio Major berth after a 2-3 showing at the Europe RMR.

This failure to qualify for the $1,250,000 Major event in Brazil culminated in the roster parting ways with then in-game leader, Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli, with the squad going on to finish ESL Challenger Rotterdam — imoRR‘s debut LAN event at the helm — in 3-4th place.

On the opposing side of the bracket are the Chinese squad of TYLOO, who will look to make valuable use of their time in Europe as they aspire to become the best team in Asia. YuLun “Summer” Cai and company recently participated in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown event, bowing out in joint-last place following a 0-2 loss to the newly-crowned No. 1 team: Vitality.

fnatic Rising and Nemiga lead the charge for teams coming straight from the group stage. The two rosters secured unblemished 3-0 records en route to punching in their respective playoff berths. Also advancing to the single-elimination stage of the competition are PROSPECTS. The all-Swedish roster put up a comfortable 3-1 record on their way to locking in a spot in the playoffs despite currently struggling in WePlay Academy League Season 6, where they risk missing out on a place in the playoffs with a 3-4 showing.

CCT North Europe Series 1 will boast a $50,000 prize pool as well as awarding points to the North Europe regional ranking leaderboard. Teams who finish within the top three following the conclusion of all four online cups will receive invites to the North Europe studio finals.
