The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) welcomes today’s announcment by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt. Hon George Osborne, of further investment in Quantum Technologies research.

Professor David Delpy, EPSRC’s Chief Executive said: The new and exciting field of Quantum Technologies promises significant advances for science and innovation. The UK’s research base is currently at the forefront but, to remain there, it is vital that we invest in the talented people and centres of excellence we need. We will be working with partners such as the Technology Strategy Board to identify best use of these funds and details of how this investment will be allocated will follow in 2014.

EPSRC hosted a roundtable in July and workshop in October 2013 between industry, researchers and government organisations to explore how the UK can take the science behind potential quantum technologies through to application.
