Energy Management Solutions: Landis+Gyr Offers New Generation of Smart Meters

Landis+Gyr, a provider of integrated energy management solutions for the utility sector announced new versions of its meter series for residential applications with features for network monitoring and grid edge control as well as industrial options.

The latest releases have also been added to its Gridstream Connect IoT platform, a single-multipurpose network that brings together hardware, software and applications for future-ready technologies. Two new variants of its E360 smart residential meter series have been introduced. The offering, which serves as an intelligent endpoint with enhanced communication and measurement capabilities, helps customers to have data-driven use cases in addition to billing-focused benefits. It also includes an integrated LTE meter supporting CAT M1 and NB-IoT protocols for better signal and reliability. For real-time data, they both also include push functionality to offer accurate and granular power flow calculations.
According to Smart Energy International, the E360 CT LTE is a transformer connected variant for high consumption applications and the E360 S2 3 phase LTE brings wired and wireless options and other advanced configurations for multi utility use.
For industrial use cases, Landis+Gyr also introduced a new version of its E660 industrial meter. Series 2 which includes a swappable communication module (LTE CAT M1/M1 and LTE CAT 1/2G) and an extension module with additional I/Os so simultaneous connectivity can be had between the head end system, SCADA and other industrial systems, according to Smart Energy International.
The latest improvements, according to a blog post on the company’s website, offer an end-to-end security design that exceeds today’s security standards and brings advanced power quality functionality to meet the stringent demands of today’s operational environment.
