Scarlet Rot is an affliction in Elden Ring that burns through health based on current health which makes it a bit more deadly than the average poison. This super poison is new to the series and can be very stressful to become afflicted by especially against bosses. This guide will go over all the ways in which Scarlet Rot can be cured and where to find them.

For how deadly it is, Scarlet Rot is quite common in Elden Ring as many enemies, bosses, and even the environment can inflict it, and there is no shortage of poison swamps of this deadly red poison. Due to how quickly it can kill it is important to have a cure be it consumable in the hot bar or a spell or incantation attuned for emergencies.

Consumables

The go-to option for most status afflictions, there are a few consumables that cure Scarlet Rot outright.

• Speckled Hardtear: Obtained by defeating Wormface boss at the Altus Plateau Minor Erdtree. This Crystal Tear can be added to the Flask of Wonderous Physick to cure any affliction as well as boost immunity. A great tear for curing Scarlet Rot or during the Mohg, Lord of Blood boss fight as it cures bleed as well.
• Preserving Boluses: A craftable consumable that cures Scarlet Rot and alleviates its build-up. They can be found during your travels but with the Armorer’s Cookbook [6] they become craftable. The Armorer’s Cookbook [6] can be found in the Siofra River West from Siofra River Bank site of grace. The material needed to craft them are Dewkissed Herba x2, Crystal Cave Moss, and a Sacramental Bud.

• Note: Soap can also stop the buildup of Scarlet Rot. If your character is covered in Scarlet Rot, poison or anything else on your character model using soap will stop the buildup of it but not cure the affliction.

Incantations

• Flame Cleanse Me: Found in the Fire Monk Camp and only requiring 12 Faith to use this Incantation can cure poison and scarlet rot easily. Immensely helpful for the Lake of Rot or against any enemies that use poison or Scarlet Rot as it only costs 14 FP and casts quickly. A useful incantation to have on any build with enough Faith.

Where To Find Flame Cleanse Me

This incarnation can be found South of the Church of Vows. Clear the camp of enemies and then retrieve it there.

• Law of Regression: Heals all ailments and dispels all special effects from both allies and enemies. This spell requires 37 Intelligence to use and is obtained from the Golden Order Principia prayerbook. The prayer book can be found on the second level of the Erdtree Sanctuary. A great incantation for healing all sorts of things at the cost of 55 FP. There is more to this spell than meets the eye since it not only cures status effects but also can reveal secrets. It costs a lot more than Flames Cleanse Me but does more than just cure Scarlet Rot which is the tradeoff. An expensive alternative for Intelligence users but a very interesting spell.
