dSPACE presents 60 GHz radar converter for validating in-cabin monitoring systems

Date:

Paderborn, 12 September 2022 – With automated driving from SAE level 3, the driver and passengers must be permanently monitored to ensure that the driver can take the steering wheel at any time and that the passengers remain in their seats. Especially for monitoring of the interior space, radar solutions operating at 60 GHz are the first choice. To test the radar sensors used for such tasks, dSPACE has expanded its range of solutions in the field of radar target simulation: With the DARTS HBC-7066V, a converter is now available that makes it possible to operate any dSPACE Automotive Radar Test System (DARTS) in the 60 GHz V band. This also applies to DARTS in the field.

The convenient, easy-to-use over-the-air test method of the DARTS product family enables validation of the entire sensor transmission channel. The small size of the converters makes them ideal for in-vehicle use.

In combination with various DARTS base devices, special test requirements such as distances of less than one meter or processing bandwidths of up to 5 GHz are supported.

Product Manager Dr. Alexander Trapp summarises the advantages of the new product, “The DARTS HBC-7066V is a powerful new solution for validating in-cabin monitoring systems that features industry-proven base technology.”

dSPACE Automotive Radar Test Systems (DARTS) are suitable for a wide range of applications in the development process of radar sensors and the vehicles equipped with them. Typical applications can be found in chip design, controller testing, vehicle testing, end-of-line testing, and vehicle homologation. The function and performance of the new 60 GHz radar converter will be demonstrated at European Microwave Week, September 25-30, in Milan, Italy, in a product demo at booth B28.
