The upcoming and highly anticipated Starfield comes off of the back of previous Bethesda titles like Skyrim. Skyrim is a game known as one of the most highly modded games out there. Bethesda games in general are known for being a modder’s playground, to the point of it even being part of pop culture. This naturally begs a prominent question about Starfield: Does Starfield have mod support, like its predecessors before it?

It was confirmed by Todd Howard in a 2021 Reddit AMA that yes, you absolutely can and will be able to mod Starfield to your heart’s content. “Our plan it have full mod support like our previous games,” writes Howard, making an unfortunate typo during an important answer. “Our modding community has been with us for 20 years. Nexus Mods has already launched a hub for the game ahead of its release in preparation. Soon enough the game will be full steam ahead on fans creating all sorts of mods for it. Some kinds of mods will probably be made a lot faster than others. Steam Workshop will also be supported, as you might expect. By virtue of Steam Workshop being supported as a feature of Starfield, that means full interfacing with mods will be available from the start with Starfield.

Amidst no PS5 release planned and no word on the Steam Deck, it’s nice to know one of the most critical parts of a Bethesda game remains intact: letting modders do absolutely anything they want. So yes, there is mod support for Starfield. You will absolutely be able to mod Starfield as much or as little as you’d like.
