A man now serving a life sentence for murder was found with cannabis in his home after police found drugs in a car he was travelling in.
Mustafa Aldobhani, 22, was jailed for a minimum of 22 and a half years after being convicted of the murder of Fahad Nur. He was jailed along with his brother Abdulgalil Aldobhani and co-defendant Shafique Shaddad in connection with the killing, which took place on June 2 last year.
But prior to the murder Aldobhani had been arrested by police after they found a large quantity of cannabis at his Cardiff home.
The possession of the drugs came to light after Aldobhani was travelling as a passenger in a car with Shehab Alfaifi on September 18, 2018, when the car was pulled over by police and was found to contain cannabis.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday heard police pulled over the car in Cowbridge Road East and found zip lock bags and cash as well as cannabis.
As a result Aldobhani’s home in Stafford Road, Grangetown, was searched by police who found more zip lock bags which contained 20.3g of cannabis, which was valued at £550.
A juvenile, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also found to be in possession of cannabis when a Louis Vuitton bag containing 16.6g of cannbis worth £170 was found.
Prosecutor Matthew Cobbe said Aldobhani was the “lead operator” of the enterprise while the juvenile was operating on his own.
