Cannabis farm stocked with homemade weapons to defend £100k haul

Date:

Crooks created their own weapons, including a make-shift spear, to defend a £100k cannabis factory now busted by police.

A sharp knife strapped to the end of a headless broomstick was just one of the altered tools cops uncovered during a raid on a house in Anthony Road, Alum Rock.

Cultivators had a ‘variety of adapted weapons’ spread across different rooms of the house to protect their haul from potential intruders.

But there was no stopping West Midlands Police officers as they smashed the cannabis farm on Sunday morning, July 5.

As they executed a search warrant, more than 100 cannabis plants were uncovered – with a staggering estimated street value of £100,000.

A ‘violent’ man was arrested at the scene as he attempted to escape from officers and the plants were all seized.

Officers shared dramatic images from inside the property, showing rows and rows of plants lined up in full view of a window.

Washwood Heath Police said: “Today our team have executed a warrant on Anthony Road where they discovered a cannabis farm!

“Over 100 plants were seized and one violent male was arrested after attempting to fled from officers.

“Officers also located a variety of adapted weapons across the house.”
