BNE climbed the ranking all the way to a peak 18th place in June after notably securing a place in the Legends Stage of the PGL Antwerp Major. They made history as the first Kosovar-Albanian squad to make it to a Major and they did so without organisational backing, the first team to do so since dAT at ESL One Cologne in 2014.

Bad News Eagles took the scalps of Eternal Fire, Imperial, and MIBR in a 3-2 Challengers Stage run before falling to Copenhagen Flames and FaZe in the Legends Stage. They ultimately bowed out without a victory, 0-3, after Imperial got their revenge in the elimination match.

Flatron “juanflatroo” Halimi and company earned an IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR berth due to their Cindarella run at the Major in Belgium, joining the likes of FaZe and Ninjas in Pyjamas in Group A. The Major-qualifying tournament will get underway on October 4 in the Mediterranean island-nation of Malta.

“Today we came to the decision that we will continue with Bad News Eagles, as our own organisation that we will have full control over,” the new organisation announced via Twitter.

“For us as a team, salary is not the most important factor in this decision but the staff that an organisation has and how they can help us develop in and out of the game. Another really important factor is the opportunity to bootcamp regularly without issue, this for us is where visas are also very important.”

The team is slated to participate in ESL Challenger League Season 42. Their first match is scheduled to be against UNGENTIUM on September 7.
