Roll out the red carpet, again. After Lady Gaga’s big win at last weekend’s Oscars for her song “Shallow” from the hit film A Star Is Born, Xilinx went “Deep,” as in deep learning, to win Embedded Computing Design’s top prize at Embedded World in Germany. We were honored to receive the prestigious Best in Show Award for our Xilinx AI Platform and the presentation ceremony nearly brought tears of joy to our eyes.

This marks the second award that Xilinx AI products have garnered at shows in the past year following the ML Suite win at the Embedded Vision Summit for the best cloud technology. This time, we prevailed against stiff competition from a number of worthy entries in the AI/ML category. Congratulations to all of them on their nominations.

The Xilinx AI Platform is the industry’s first dual hardware and software optimizer. The comprehensive software environment directly compiles and quantizes trained neural network models in standard frameworks such as Caffe, TensorFlow and MxNet and optimizes them for implementation on Xilinx SoCs and FPGAs.

The platform’s network pruning technology reduces AI computation requirements up to 93 percent with accuracy loss of less than 1 percent. Additionally, for optimal performance, it customizes hardware IP and memory hierarchy for AI inference based on the network structure.

This award further validates our adaptable AI inference acceleration, which delivers unbeatable low-latency performance from cloud to edge. Our AI Platform and ecosystem enable developers to accelerate their whole application, while increasing network performance optimization by 5X to 50X and reducing power.
