Johnsons Cars Mazda general manager and former AM Awards GM/DP of the Year winner Helen Price has taken a new job with British supercar maker McLaren Automotive.
Price, who scooped AM’s prestigious accolade in 2020 and has since become a member of the AM Live advisory board, announced her move to the role of the Woking-based OEM’s Regional Sales Manager for Western Europe via LinkedIn yesterday (April 3).
In a short comment that attracted an influx of congratulations, Price said: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as McLaren Regional Sales Manager – Western Europe at McLaren Automotive Ltd!”
Price worked for Vertu Motors’ Bristol Street Motors division for over 13 years – progressing to the role of general sales manager at Mazda Redditch – before joining Johnsons Cars in April 2018.
Less than two years later AM Awards judges praised her ability to help her team “make the most of a good opportunity” in a glowing citation following her DP/GM of the Year Award win.
The citation said: “Helen Price is in her first general management role and has taken Johnsons Mazda Gloucester from a start-up to a profitable dealership in a remarkably short period.
“Within 18 months the business is making returns above the industry’s average, thanks to Price’s commitment and the 20-strong team she has built around her.”
During her time at Johnsons Mazda, Price also saw her business ranked in the AM Best UK Dealerships To Work For, thanks to high scores in Best Companies’ employee survey.
She was also a recipient of an Outstanding Management Accreditation award from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
McLaren Automotive currently has 11 franchised supercar retailers in the UK.
Last month the brand revealed that Harwoods Group’s New Forest dealership had been named as its Retailer of the Year for 2022.
The business will now represent the brand’s UK retail network at the McLaren Global Retailer of the Year 2022 awards.
