“The hard work of our team over the past few years, including the completion of our terminal expansion project in the midst of a pandemic, has received deserved recognition from our peers,” wrote chair Rob Chapman and managing director Brenton Cox in the airport’s annual report.

“We are immensely proud of our team who have managed the extraordinary challenges of COVID but also still managed to complete our biggest infrastructure project since 2005.”

New infrastructure planned includes expanded security screening and check-in areas, as well as more gates and aircraft parking through expanding the northern and southern piers, and larger kerbside pickup and departure zones to ease car traffic.

“We continue to seek the return of our international inbound markets along with a full return of our international airline partners,” wrote Chapman and Cox.

“We are also preparing to invest against our own capacity constraints, notably around our aircraft parking, check-in and security areas.”

The report notes that Adelaide Airport aims to become “a destination in its own right”, including outdoor areas, office and meeting spaces, large retail centres, and leisure and dining precincts.

“The safe and more customer centric evolution of data collection and AI will transform customers’ pre-determined preferences to facilitate an optimal dining and retail experience from check-in to boarding,” the report reads.

“Interactive displays and immersive technologies provide engaging and informative content allowing customers to access destination-related information.

“Entertainment options will complement interactive experiences building upon current offers such as the historic Vickers Vimy exhibition.”

Adelaide has also commenced major resurfacing works on its runways, expected to be completed by August 2024.
