Buyers of the 2020 C8 Corvette Get a Second ‘Vette

Date:

Proud owners of the 2020 Corvette have more reasons to enjoy getting the first-ever mid-engine model.

The buyers of the long-awaited 2020 C8 Corvette not only got the first-ever mid-engine version of the brand’s halo vehicle, they get a second Corvette!

Before the automotive world scrambles to see if there are any BOGO coupons for the 2021 model, a little more information: the “second” ’Vette is approximately a 1:18 scale model commemorating their purchase of the newest generation sports car.

The 10-inch by 5.5-inch models come in a special box and are mounted on a wooden base. They come in the same color as the vehicle purchased and have a plaque with their car’s vehicle identification number on it.

Chevrolet is celebrating the new C8 Corvette by giving buyers a scale model in the same color as the car they bought.

However, the perks of new Corvette ownership do not stop at the commemorative model, and at the risk of slipping into game show host-speak, there’s more!

In addition to the car, new owners receive a coupon to attend the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School in Pahrump, Nevada, near Las Vegas. New Corvette owners can attend a two-day high-performance driver education seminar at Spring Mountain for just $1,000, which is about a third of the price of a regular three-day class at the school

Fellows is a long-time fixture on the U.S. racing scene, holding the record for most wins by a foreign-born driver – he’s Canadian – in NASCAR’s top three series (Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Trucks) with six – four in Nationwide and two in Trucks.

Owners are trained on how to put their Corvette Stingray through its paces, using specially outfitted versions of the vehicle at its Spring Mountain racing education facility. Attendees get classroom and on-track instruction.

New C8 owners can also go to a two-day seminar at Ron Fellows Performance Driving School at a discount to better drive their new purchase.

Corvette buyers have one year from the date of delivery to take the class at the reduced rate. Tuition includes a one-night stay in one of Spring Mountain’s onsite condominiums and clubhouse access along with catered breakfast and lunch. Anyone who purchased their mid-engine Corvette before May 31, 2020, has until June 1, 2021, to book their seminar, according to the school.

“Our enhanced curriculum includes dynamic car control exercises, visual skill development and proper cornering techniques,” the school said. “Classroom sessions are brief but informative, and our precision focused track time will improve your driving confidence challenging yourself and the all-new mid-engine Corvette.”

In the past, the school also offered a similar two-day discounted class for owners of the C7 Corvette as well as Cadillac V-Series owners. It’s unknown if 2021 C8 buyers will also get the models or access to the discounted racing class; however, since the C7 class is winding down, it seems they’ll still get chance to attend the racing school.
