His final kill during the last round of the grand final broke the record for most kills in a series.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut made history during the Grand Final of the ESL Pro League Season 16 when he broke the record for the most kills in a single series for CS:GO, according to HLTV. Team Vitality emerged victorious in the Grand Final over Team Liquid with a final score of 3-2, where ZywOo was at the top of the charts for stats in every game in the series.

With his last shot in the last round of the Grand Final, ZywOo broke the record previously held by Marcelo “coldzera” David who had earned 130 kills in the 2017 EPICENTER finals against Virtus.pro when he was playing for SK Gaming. ZywOo’s final tally in the competition was 143 kills. ESL awarded him with the title of the game’s MVP thanks to the final tally.

ZywOo was previously voted as the best CS:GO player in the world in 2019 and 2020 and he still shows that he deserves the vote even two years later. His last shot was made with an AK-47, although his preferred weapon is the trusty AWP.

While the team is celebrating their win in Malta, Team Vitality will be heading straight back to the tournament circuit to qualify for IEM Rio Major 2022 via the European qualifier starting later today in, coincidentally, Malta.
