During the Xbox Games Showcase Extended, a new interview with Playground Games revealed more details on the upcoming expansion for Forza Horizon 5, Hot Wheels.
The reveal trailer shows that new Hot Wheels cars and a lot of Hot Wheels’ orange tracks are suspended in high altitudes set above the clouds of Mexico.
The interview with Creative Director Mike Brown confirms that yes, you can make your own tracks using Hot Wheels track pieces using the game’s Eventlab, the custom mode and race editor.
80 new track and stunt pieces will be able to use create your own monstrosity of a Hot Wheels track. Confirm track pieces include magnet, ice, water flume and rumble tracks, as well as the iconic orange track pieces.
Ten new cars will be included in Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion, four of which are Hot Wheels cars scaled up from its 1:64 diecast to 1:1 recreations. The rest are hypercars and “extreme track toys”.
The cars confirmed are:
- Deora II
- Bad To The Blade
- Baja Bone Shaker
- Chevrolet Hot Wheels COPO Camaro
- Hennessey Venom F5
- Mosler MT900 GT3
Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels will allow you to play the full campaign co-op right from the start. Also, players can get a taste of the Hot Wheels expansion very early in the game.
Also, we now know what the Horizon Nexus is, which was teased to be something coming to Forza Horizon 5 in Series 9. Apparently, it’s connected to the Hot Wheels expansion. The Horizon Nexus is the hub for the Horizon Festival, with plenty of track pieces connect to it, like a hub in the expansion.
Between this and Hot Wheels Unleashed, fans of the diecast car toys are being catered to well.
Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion releases on July 19.
