xQc Marathons to 8M Hours Watched – Weekly Twitch Top 10s, March 22 -28

Date:

It’s been a week of marathon streams as both xQc and Ludwig Ahgren had unique challenges keeping their channels live 24 hours a day. This was also the week that kicked off the LEC playoffs, bringing a boost in viewership for the European league.

Twitch’s Top Channel – xQc

Grand Theft Auto V roleplay is perhaps the most unique gaming content you’ll find on Twitch. The requirements of maintaining a character and generating content through interaction rather than a gameplay-driven narrative cause engagement you can’t find in other multiplayer experiences. It’s like the collaboration meta that drove Among Us up the charts, but cranked up to 11.

Early last week, Félix “xQc” Lengyel began a stream of GTAV with the challenge that the broadcast would not end until he cleared his in-game debt. His channel remained live for multiple days, boosting the streamer to a staggering 8M hours watched – a rarity for the platform let alone an individual streamer’s channel.

Twitch’s Top Content – Just Chatting

It is fitting that this week the top content mirrors the top streamer. Lengyel’s broadcasts were a mix of Just Chatting and GTA V content, which once again claim first and second respectively. Again, it is unlikely that GTA V has established itself as the new permanent number two category on the platform, but this latest spike in popularity is largely unprecedented for the game. There is a new level of momentum behind the current wave of GTA V content consumption that seems to have captured Twitch’s biggest names, and their fans are here for it.
