New World fans and potential players are wondering whether they’ll be able to play New World on consoles.

New World has dominated MMO headlines since its first closed beta performance over a month ago. It is the first came of its kind to come from Amazon Games and, as such, the studio has continually declared—and proven—its dedication to fans by working to create the best product possible. Whether that was accomplished by implementing player feedback or issuing launch delays in the interest of further development, New World now stands on the precipice of release.

The wait to find Aeternum is finally over.

Unfortunately, no. At the time of writing, New World is not scheduled to release on any consoles. This includes the Xbox One/Series S|X, PlayStation 4/5 or any other previous generation of console. Amazon Games’ New World is a PC exclusive.

That’s not to say that it will remain that way, however. While the studio likely has little to no plans to bring the game to console right now, there are MMOs that have done so and found success. The Elder Scrolls Online is one example. Then, however, cross play capability becomes a whole third issue.

Fans likely won’t see New World make that jump for some time—regardless of whether or not the studio has plans to do so. Amazon Games has already shown its commitment to creating the best and most stable product it can. It’s unlikely they’ll be looking to port the game to consoles anytime soon.

New World releases tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 8 a.m. ET.
