WAC Lab: Fellowship Program Unlocking Web3 For The Arts And Culture

An international community of museum professionals tagged “We Are Museums” in collaboration with TZ Connect, a Berlin-based team dedicated to advancing the Tezos ecosystem is thrilled to announce the launch of a new Web3 fellowship program for the arts and culture institutions dubbed “WAC Fellowship”.

An Education Program for Web3 Enthusiasts

The proposed WAC Fellowship program has been initiated to basically guide arts and culture professionals through the exciting opportunities provided by Web3 innovations. The initiative behind the program was birthed by a WAC Weekly discussion program previously launched in December 2021.

The WAC Fellowship program is powered by the Tezos ecosystem and has been designed to be an 8-week program for enthusiasts to learn about Web3 and build a project for the arts and culture from scratch, intensive and immersive educational programs, mentorships, and hands-on sessions.

According to the announcement, the WAC Fellowship program will offer a comprehensive body of knowledge and new practices, laying core emphasis on how arts and culture institutions can use Web3 technology to further their mission for social good; the ways institutions can include Web3 in their commitment to environmental justice; and Web3 as a navigation tool through the financial crisis weighing down on the culture sector.

During the course of the program, which will hold for 8 weeks, participants will be provided with training on NFTs, DAOs, encryption, DeFi, consensus mechanisms, oracles, and more. Moreso, a workshop on the futures of the Web3 in Culture and Arts: a UNESCO-inspired Futures Literacy Lab in collaboration with the MOTI Foundation will be included.

In addition to that, there will be a Blockchain tech reality check which would comprise everything that is and isn’t possible with participants enjoying one-to-one mentoring sessions with technologists and strategists.

Furthermore, there will be weekly informal conversations where fellows meet the people shaping the space today, in collaboration with Blockchain Art Directory 2.0. Lastly, participants will have access to resources including the latest press reviews, ecosystem mapping, a knowledge library with tutorials and useful links and bibliographies, and an open-source library to develop new projects, in collaboration with Blockchain Art Directory 2.0.

Interested participants are urged to get themselves registered for the WAC Fellowship program through the provided web link before or on April 4 at noon UTC.

The announcement further unveiled that there will be an informational event to introduce the WAC Fellowship in detail and answer questions, followed by a creative “Idea Lab” to brainstorm new use cases of Web3 for arts and culture institutions.
