As Cadillac gets ready to launch the new performance version of its flagship SUV, its offering up some impressive specs for the 2023 Escalade-V.
For one thing, the three-row behemoth will punch out 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque which, the automaker claims, makes it “the industry’s most powerful full-size SUV.”
Sản phẩm Escalade-V adds a number of new features to the halo SUV’s already expansive list. And it will get the latest update of Caddy parent General Motors’ hands-free Super Cruise technology.
“We do not deploy the V-Series designation lightly,” said Caddy Global Vice President Rory Harvey. “The arrival of the 2023 Escalade-V is the result of a rigorous development program that allows this highly anticipated model to meet the criteria and capability thresholds established by nearly two decades of inspired V-Series performance.”
An SUV performance race
The industry is in a race to deliver better performance and sports car-like manners from utility vehicles. That should be no surprise as even the most exotic of brands, like Ferrari and Lamborghini, are getting into the SUV game.
The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V falls just short of winning overall king-of-the-hill status when it comes to power, Aston Martin grabbing the crown with the new DBX707 — which punches out 707 hp and 663 lb-ft. But the new Escalade-V model lets Cadillac narrow the gap — able to launch from 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds. The current model maxes out at 420 hp and 460 lb-ft.
To get there, the V-Series package gets a hand-built 6.2-liter V-8 that’s supercharged and intercooled and builds on what Caddy has done with the engine in its new CT5-V Blackwing. The Escalade-V gets an even bigger, four-lobe supercharger that lets its big V-8 breathe even deeper. To support the added stress, the engine itself adopts a forged steel crankshaft, forged connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons. The aluminum cylinder heads also have been upgraded.
The V-8 is now paired with an upgraded 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Nhiều tính năng
The list of standard features for the 2023 Escalade-V includes an electronic limited-slip differential, all-wheel-drive and a magnetic ride control adaptive air suspension. The dampers use a magnetorheological fluid — basically, an oil with microscopic magnetic particle. By applying a current, each corner can change from soft to firm — or any setting in-between — in the time it takes to travel less than two inches at 60 mph.
Motorists will be able to select from a variety of pre-set driver modes or customize their own. These settings instantly adjust vehicle settings including the suspension, steering, brake feel, all-wheel drive and even the engine exhaust note.
The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will get unique quad exhaust outlets. Other visual changes include unique front and rear fascia, V-Series badging both inside and out, dedicated 22-inch wheels and tires, and Brembo brakes — six-piston up front — with red calipers.
Super Cruisin’
Sản phẩm V model will offer GM’s Super Cruise technology which, the automaker claims, permits driving hands-free on 200,000 miles of limited-access roadways in the U.S. The updated system now will allow a motorist to pass a slow vehicle simply by tapping the turn signal stalk. And the upgrade can be used while towing.
As with the “base” Escalade, the cabin features a curved, 38-inch OLED display that dominates the instrument panel. That includes a 16.9-inch infotainment screen. Wireless smartphone charging, as well as wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. A head-up display adds augmented reality that makes it easier to figure out where to make a turn when the navigation system is active.
Also standard, a 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference audio package.
The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will roll into U.S. showrooms late this summer at a starting price of $149,990 — including delivery fees.
