The building that once housed Tony’s Shoe Repair and Dry-Cleaning Service has turned over a new leaf.

A retail cannabis outlet, Royal Leafs, opened at the Main Street North building last fall.

Shop founder Kay Shaw wanted his store to do more.

“I know there are stigmas and other things associated with it, but personally I believe in more of the beneficial uses of this,” he said, noting he was passionate about the nutritional and beneficial side of the marijuana leaves.

Royal Leafs aims to offer an educational shopping experience with helpful and knowledgeable staff while also focusing on the business’s philosophy of honouring the sanctity of the plant. According to the shop’s website, the Royal Leafs team believes in all things natural and the use of naturally derived sources for people’s overall health and wellness.

Customers seeking product for recreational use will find what they need, but so too will those looking for products to aid in wellness.

The store carries everything from flowers, pre-rolls and concentrates to edibles, topicals and accessories — and everything comes with a price-match guarantee.

The business is keen on supporting the community, with Shaw’s personal motto of “No one should go to sleep hungry” driving that mindset. As such, the shop is looking to support local charity organizations.

“I have dedicated 6 per cent of my net profits to the charitable causes — only to the local charities.”
