MMI introduces new simulator for microsurgeries

Ngày:

Medical Microinstruments (MMI) has giới thiệu the Symani Surgical System Simulator to help surgeons hone their skills in a safe, simulated environment.

The new simulator is developed by medical simulation training company VirtaMed. It will support the training of surgeons who will use MMI’s Symani Surgical System to perform robotic microsurgeries.

MMI CEO Mark Toland said: “It was a priority for our company to offer our surgeons a simulation solution so they can practice robotic microsurgery in a more convenient way.

“By training on the simulator, surgeons will be even more prepared for their first Symani patient or for a challenging case.”

The Symani Surgical System is a robotic platform with wristed instruments for microsurgeries. The device is designed to enhance a surgeon’s ability to access and suture small and delicate anatomy.

It uses technologies to scale movement and minimise tremor, enabling surgeons to make precise micro-movements. The system can be used to perform suturing, ligation, anastomoses, and coaptations.

According to MMI, the launch of Symani Surgical System Simulator will facilitate the adoption of robotic microsurgery.

The roll out of the simulator will also enable MMI to test new features and solutions in a virtual environment, expediting the launch of new products.

VirtaMed co-CEO Stefan Tuchschmid said: “We’re thrilled to partner with MMI to address this new frontier of robotic surgery.

“MMI’s technology provides tremendous value for the surgical community and the patients they serve. We’re proud that our collaboration has led to a simulator that’s so realistic that surgeons can immediately begin suturing on Symani after just a few minutes of practice on the simulator.”
