LoL: MSI 2022 Day Five, Group C Recap

Ngày:

MSI 2022 Day Five is here, and it’s time to see a full day of EU v NA (and Aus) clashes.

With Group C only featuring three sides, a full day of Group C action has added spice. Sadly, with G2 and EG all but through already, it was really just a battle of EU v NA. Without a win going into the day, Order were outsiders, and they’d need to win all their games against EG to even have a chance of making it to the Rumble Stage.

MSI – G2  v EG Game 1

EG drafted comfort pick Jinx for hypercarry Danny, hoping to take their first win from the thus far undefeated G2. First Blood went to G2. Jankos’ Diana getting the kill on EG. Vulcan’s TahmKench in the bottom lane around 4 and a half minutes. Heavy early game fighting took place across all lanes. EG who have been struggling with their bottom lane this tournament managed to maintain a fairly strong bot, with Danny’s Jinx becoming quite powerful by the 15-minute mark. Gold was fairly even until a fight at Dragon around 21 minutes cost EG Impact and Inspired. G2 moved then to Baron, with the 3 remaining players of EG attempting to contest, which ended disastrously resulting in a 4k gold advantage for G2.

G2 kept the pressure on, pushing out lanes and using their strong fighting comp to their advantage.EG baited and won a fight at Baron, managing to lock down Jankos and take Baron at the 32-minute mark, which closed the gold gap between the two teams. It was all for naught, however, as EG. Danny fell to the G2 wombo combo of Diana/Yasuo/Vlad ult resulting in the loss of 4 players. G2 pushed for the win and took the Nexus at 39 minutes for their 17th win in a row prompting the question: Just who has what it takes to bring down this European juggernaut?

MSI – EG v ORDER Game 1

ORDER vs EG Draft Groups Day 5 MSI 2022

Australian team ORDER went in hoping to change their fortunes after a string of losses in this tournament. The early game proved disastrous for them, however, with a series of deaths in quick succession. First Blood went to EG. Jojopyun’s LeBlanc, killing off OR.Kiser’s Lissandra 3 minutes in, with OR losing Kevy and Puma shortly after, leaving EG 2k gold up at the 5-minute mark. EG. Inspired’s Graves remained strong and active on the map, with constant rotations leaving no room for ORDER to recover. With prio in every lane allowing for constant mobility, by 14 minutes EG had a 9k gold lead and full map control.

Despite their best efforts, ORDER was unable to claim any of the bounties available from EG, leading to a one-sided game and a rapid loss for the Australians at the 22-minute mark.

MSI – G2 v Order Game 1

G2 vs OR Draft MSI 2022 Group Day 5

First Blood went to G2 at 2 minutes, with Targamas’ Pyke taking down Corporal’s Karma. ORDER attempted a 3-man gank mid at 3:30 but Jankos’ Nidalee turned up to take a double kill for a 2k gold lead to G2 at 4 minutes. G2 set their play up around Nidalee rotations, claiming 14 of 15 Plates with ORDER unable to find an opening against the undefeated Europeans. A three-for-three trade in the bottom lane suggested a glimmer of hope, but it was soon snuffed out, the 12k gold lead on G2 proving too great despite Puma’s cheeky engagements on Ezrael.

ORDER made a last stand at Baron, with Kevy jumping in for the steal, but it was a costly play with the team unable to disengage and losing three despite the strength of Baron buff. At minute 26 G2 rolled through to Ace the Australian team and claim their 18th straight win of the tournament.

MSI – G2 v EG Game 2

G2 v EG Day 5 MSI

G2 picks up the first blood, in this fourth, and final, EU v NA clash. After the first blood, EG managed to secure a 1k lead as they took better control of the Rift. Despite that, G2 continued to win team fights as they neutralized the gold. As the game approached the mid-game, the fights started breaking out. While G2 kept winning skirmishes, EG remained in a gold lead. A massive swing came as Jojo tried to 1v1 caPs under his tower, however, caPs was able to delay the fight long enough to win a 1v1. The pace of the series accelerates as G2 continues to pick up kills across the Rift, despite EG having a gold lead due to towers. G2 sneak a Baron away as they start to build towards a game-ending play. G2 claimed a mid-lane inhibitor but lost three members in return.

A 5v5 at the Drake is how the game came to an end, with G2 just too good in the fight as EG fell to G2 in all four of their matches.
