Tổ chức thể thao điện tử Bắc Mỹ FlyQuest đã thông báo về việc bổ nhiệm Michael Choi là công ty mới CEO.
FlyQuest cũng tiết lộ rằng Giám đốc điều hành hiện tại của họ là Tricia Sugita sẽ rời tổ chức. Choi từng giữ vị trí Giám đốc dự án cấp cao và Giám đốc hoạt động của FlyQuest, và là COO của công ty trước khi được bổ nhiệm làm Giám đốc điều hành.
Prior to joining FlyQuest in 2019, Choi worked for Snap Inc. and the Professional Esports Association. According to a release, Choi has led and supported marketing, product, operations, finance and legal efforts for FlyQuest during his tenure.
The new role will see Choi lead the expansion of its FlyQuest League of Legends team and Super Smash Melee players. FlyQuest’s League of Legends team finished mid-table at the 2021 LCS, sharing the fifth spot with the Golden Guardians.
Over the past two years, FlyQuest has marketed itself as a sustainability-focused organisation that puts a strong emphasis on health and eco-friendly partnerships. As such, Choi will also work with the company’s partners on sustainable projects. FlyQuest made headlines by designing an eco-friendly and sustainable merchandise collection in 2021, as well as partnering with Mastercard on the TreeQuest campaign. Mastercard is also the financial partner of FlyQuest.
Tricia Sugita first joined FlyQuest in 2018 following a tenure as Immortals’ Head of Partnership. She was the organisation’s COO for over two years before being appointed FlyQuest’s CEO. The organisation did not detail why the Sugita left the company.
Michael Choi, the new CEO of FlyQuest, commented on the news: “Tricia’s leadership and vision over the last few years grew FlyQuest to where we are today, and as the new CEO, these are very big shoes to fill.
“I have a strong grasp on where we need to go from here, and our team and players remain committed to the greater FlyQuest cause.”
