Vergeway Walkthrough Chapter 5

Date:

This chapter unlocks the Missile skill, which becomes pretty much a sure-fire win for any “Destroy the Stronghold” objective due to its high damage output to Strongholds. However, there are only a few of them at later stages, and later chapters ramp up the enemy Stronghold’s health significantly, making it obsolete quickly. Might as well use it when it’s good.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 1

  • Start with 50 Aether and 3,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 8,400 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Catapult Squad, Hammer Squad, Shield Squad, Boommeister
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Fire Tower, Lightning Tower, Deadly Shot, Starfall, Missile

So, this one’s a bit cheaty.

You get your first guaranteed Missile card by finishing this stage. However, the card itself is unlocked as soon as you open Chapter 5. That means you need to rely on a lucky chest opening to get your first Missile card to finish this stage the same way I did.

The strategy itself is simple. Use a Stone Tower to soak up damage and place a few Lightning Towers and Fire Towers behind it to remove approaching units.

The Boommeister is worrisome, but all you need to do is cast Deadly Shot and Starfall on him when he spawns, then follow with another Deadly Shot to finish him off.

After that, just use Missile on the enemy Stronghold to destroy it. It will take seven casts at Level 1.

If you don’t have Missile yet, you’ll need to use a more challenging method like the Stone Tower, Axel, and Catapult Squad rush.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 2

  • Start with 50 Aether and 3,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 8,800 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Stone Tower, Catapult Squad, Shield Squad, Territe, Master Cook
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Fire Tower, Lightning Tower, Arrow Rain, Deadly Shot, Missile

This one is similar to the previous stage. Since you have Missile by now, you can use the strategy outlined above, with a few changes. I heavily recommend leveling up Missile at least a few times.

As I mentioned, the strategy is similar to Stage 1. However, you’ll need more defensive towers. Two Fire and four Lightning Towers should work.

Additionally, place the first two Stone Towers behind one another (or keep the space behind the Stone Towers empty). The enemies deal AoE damage to towers, so anything that’s not a Stone Tower will likely get destroyed for no good reason.

Replace Stone Towers when needed, and use Deadly Shot or Arrow Rain to clear out groups of Catapults since they can annihilate a tower. After the first minute or so, you can start casting Missile on the enemy Stronghold.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 3

  • Start with 50 Aether and 3,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 161 Enemies to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Ice Tower, Cavalry Squad, Stallion Squad, Vengeful Centaur, Barbarian
  • Card selection: Arrow Tower, Stone Tower, Fire Tower, Lightning Tower, Magma Tower, Starfall, Catapult Squad, Bugsy

The same rule as on Stage 1 applies here. Since you’re not guaranteed a Magma Tower at this point, you can compensate by adding more Fire Towers instead. It should work similarly, but it all heavily depends on your Tower Level.

Start by placing a Stone Tower two or three columns away from your Stronghold, then filling the backline with Fire, Lightning, and Magma Towers (if available). When the two officers get to your Stone Tower, use Starfall to stun them and buy time for your towers to destroy them.

The enemy should exhaust most of its forces by 1:50, and you can use that opportunity to attack. Place an Arrow Tower at the front to soak up tower shots, then deploy Bugsy and Catapult Squads on both sides to destroy towers. Place another tower when the first line of enemy towers is destroyed.

The enemy should send a final push of cavalry, which kills your Bugsy and Catapult Squads, but they should destroy the towers in time. With cavalry units suiciding into your backline defense, the victory is yours. If some towers remain, destroy them with Catapult Squads.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 4

  • Start with 50 Aether and 3,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 10,000 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Stone Tower, Sniper Squad, Shield Squad, Sword Squad, Mecha Trojan
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Lightning Tower, Magma Tower (or Fire Tower), Missile

This stage is like the previous “Destroy Stronghold” stages in this Chapter, partly because Missile can still take care of the Stronghold with enough casts.

You’ll need even more defenses than the last time. I suggest putting the Stone Tower on the third column from the left, then place all shooting towers behind it. Mecha Trojans will remove about half of the Stone Tower’s HP before collapsing from tower fire (provided you have enough defensive towers).

Just make sure to replace Stone Towers whenever they fall, and keep up a strong defense for the first minute and a half. After that, the enemy is pretty open, so you can start casting Missile on the Stronghold whenever possible.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 5

  • Start with 50 Aether and 3,500 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 10,600 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Lightning Tower, Shield Squad, Hammer Squad, Mastercook, Boommeister
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Lightning Tower, Fire Tower, Magma Tower, Deadly Shot, Starfall, Missile

I’d consider this just a slightly more challenging Stage 1, and almost the same strategy for that one applies here.

With enough levels, pretty much all the defense you need are two Lightning Towers and some Magma or Fire Towers, with one Stone Tower to act as a tank.

Wait for the Boommeister to show up, stun him with Starfall, and use two Deadly Shots to kill him before he gets to your side of the field.

After the Boommeister is dead, you’re free to spam Missiles on the enemy Stronghold for the win. A few levels on the Missile greatly speed up the process.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 6

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 15 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Magma Tower, Fire Tower, Cannon Train, Stallion Squad, Bombin’ Goblin
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Lightning Tower, Magma Tower, Fireball, Deadly Shot, Ballista Squad, Catapult Squad, Bugsy

This one’s a bit trickier, but my strategy will work if you follow it closely.

You’ll need to be defensive for the first minute or so. Set up a Stone Tower and a few Lightning Towers and Magma Towers each to protect the Stronghold.

Use Fireball and Deadly Shot on any Cannon Trains that approach to destroy them. You don’t want them to get to attack – ever.

At about 1:50, the enemy should exhaust most of its attacking force. Deploy a Stone Tower at the front to tank shots and summon Bugsy, Ballista Squads, and Catapult Squads to start pressuring towers.

Place another Stone Tower at the front when your summoning region expands. The enemy should attack you with a bunch of Cavalry Squads by now. You can use Deadly Shot if you have the Aether to slow them down or ignore them.

When the Cavalry Squads kill your units, they’ll go to your towers in the back. Use that chance to deploy Bugsy and more Ballista or Catapult Squads next to enemy towers to finish them off.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 7

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 162 Enemies to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Catapult Squad, Hammer Squad, Sword Squad, Pumpkinator
  • Card selection: Lightning Tower, Stone Tower, Arrow Tower, Ballista Squad, Arrow Rain (or Fireball), Starfall, Bugsy

For this stage, you need to stay on the defensive for a good portion of the time.

Start by placing a Stone Tower in the second leftmost column and Lightning Towers behind. Four Lightning Towers should have enough damage output to kill most units.

Replace the Stone Tower with a fresh one when needed. Use Starfall on the enemy Pumpkinator to prevent a bit of damage on your towers when it’s in range. Remove groups of Catapults with an Arrow Rain (or Fireball).

When there are 42 enemies left, use an Arrow or Stone Tower on the front to tank tower shots and place Bugsy and Ballista Squads to take out enemy towers. The AI will send out its remaining units when its towers start taking damage. Place another tower when your summoning region expands to prolong the life of your attacking units.

You can use a well-placed Arrow Rain to clear out most of the defending force. If some towers still stand after the initial assault, re-deploy Bugsy to clear them.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 8

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 153 Enemies to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Crossbow Squad, Hammer Squad, Shield Squad, Indigo
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Lightning Tower, Stone Tower, Ballista Squad, Arrow Rain, Starfall, Bugsy

For this stage, you need good timing and a bit of a strategy alteration.

Place your defensive towers in the fifth column from the right, with one Stone Tower in front of them.

When Indigo spawns, watch him carefully. As soon as he starts winding up to use his skill (he’ll twirl around a bit), stun him with Starfall to interrupt it. Repeat the Starfall the next time he uses his skill.

Do the same thing for the second Indigo that approaches afterward.

When there are 49 enemies left, go on the offensive. Place a Stone Tower to tank shots at the front, then deploy Bugsy and Ballista Squads to destroy towers. The AI will send out its remaining units to fight you. Send out more Ballistas to destroy the remaining towers.

You can use Arrow Rain to destroy approaching units, but they should die to towers anyway.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 9

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 16 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Stone Tower, Sniper Squad, Hammer Squad, Vile Obelisk
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Ballista Squad, Catapult Squad, Tally, Bugsy, Fireball

For this stage, you’ll only need four cards if they’re leveled up, but you can use more soldier and tower-killing skills (Fireball works great). Bugsy is also another solid choice for killing towers.

Start by placing Catapult and Ballista Squads near the left bottom corner. As they slowly move forward, put more Squads and Tally (and Bugsy if you chose her) to join them.

Put a Stone Tower in the front to tank tower shots and incoming enemy units. You’ll need to replace this tower regularly, so keep an eye on its health.

Place more Catapult and Ballista Squads when possible, preferably away from enemy melee units. If needed, use a Fireball to finish some towers off and kill units that approach.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 10

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy Stronghold
  • 13,000 Stronghold health to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Lightning Tower, Ice Tower, Stallion Squad, Vengeful Centaur, Risen Cleric
  • Card selection: Magma Tower, Stone Tower, Lightning Tower, Missile

This one is of the simplest stages in this chapter, at least if you have decently leveled cards. Again, since the Stronghold is the objective, kill it with Missile spam.

The defense is pretty straightforward. One Stone Tower, two Magma Towers, and two to three Lightning Towers are all you need to set up an impregnable guard.

From then on, just use Missile on the enemy Stronghold whenever it’s available until you win. Pretty easy stuff.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 11

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 170 Enemies to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Trebuchet Squad, Crossbow Squad, Sword Squad, Dark Magister
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Lightning Tower, Magma Tower, Arrow Tower, Catapult Squad, Arrow Rain, Deadly Shot, Bugsy

This one is a bit different than other “Defeat all Enemies” stages.

You can start by going on the offensive to destroy the four towers. Place an Arrow Tower (since it’s cheap) to tank shots at the front, then deploy Bugsy and one Catapult Squad to destroy the towers.

Place the defensive towers in the back. One Stone Tower, one Magma Tower, and two to three Lightning Towers should provide enough defense.

Use Arrow Rain, Fireball, or Deadly Shot on the groups of siege units when they get into range. Fireball is most efficient, Aether-wise, but it might not one-shot them if it’s underleveled.

That’s pretty much it for this stage. Just outlast the enemy forces, and you’re good to go.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 12

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 24 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Arrow Tower, Crossbow Squad, Lizard Squad, Hammer Squad, Mega Maggot
  • Card selection: Lightning Tower, Stone Tower, Catapult Squad, Trebuchet Squad, Cyclone, Indigo

You have two groups of eight towers surrounding the Mega Maggots and a column of towers between them. Luckily, Cyclone is an effective anti-tower tool with a few levels. If you don’t have Cyclone, you’ll need to wait for some lucky chests or use a different strategy.

To defend against approaching enemies, you need one Lightning Tower. Use Cyclone to destroy the two groups of towers and deal significant damage to the Maggots in the process.

When you finish that and store up some Aether, place a Stone Tower in front of the Maggot, then put Indigo, Catapult Squads, and Trebuchet Squads so they can immediately attack it. Place more siege unit squads as needed.

Put another Stone Tower or two to soak the damage from approaching enemies, placing it further into the enemy territory. Your siege units should have enough damage to finish off all the towers and Maggots. If needed, place some directly within range or use Cyclone for the last bit of damage.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 13

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 122 Enemies to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Stallion Squad, Shield Squad, Indigo, Zephyrus
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Magma Tower, Lightning Tower, Crossbow Squad, Starfall, Cyclone

This one requires more timing.

You can cast six Cyclones total to destroy all enemy towers, positioning them on the upper right group, the left group in the front, and the back group. Start with either group since it doesn’t seem to matter. You can use Cyclone whenever you have spare Aether.

Wait until the first Zephyrus is inside your territory to block its path with a Stone Tower. Place Magma and Lightning Towers behind it to kill the Zephyrus and encroaching units. Make sure to kill the Cavalry units that managed to get to your Stronghold in the meantime. If the Lightning Towers are in the fifth column from the left, they will fire backward when there are no more enemies in front.

The Zephyrus outrange your towers, so just let them pummel the Stone Tower and replace it when needed for now. Wait until both appear and Indigo is dead.

Speaking of Indigo, you need to stop it from using its skill by timing a good Starfall for the stun.

Once Indigo is dead, place a Stone Tower next to the Zephyruses and kill them with a few Crossbow Squads.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 14

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Destroy all Towers
  • 28 Towers to destroy
  • Enemies encountered: Crossbow Tower, Frozen Obelisk, Vile Obelisk, Sniper Squad, Cottageroar
  • Card selection: Stone Tower, Lightning Tower, Trebuchet Squad, Catapult Squad, Cyclone

All you need to defend against the approaching units are one Stone Tower and two Lightning Towers. That’s the easy part.

Use Cyclones to destroy the Crossbow Towers. Ideally, you should use two Cyclones for each group of clumped towers for six total and then wait for your Aether to recharge a bit.

Place a Stone Tower to tank the Obelisk shots at the front and deploy a Trebuchet Squad on the top and a Catapult Squad on the bottom. They should be able to destroy the Obelisks.

Put a Stone Tower in front of the Cottageroar and more siege squads to kill it. Don’t mind the approaching units. You can use Cyclone for the last bits of damage if needed.

Vergeway Chapter 5 Stage 15

  • Start with 50 Aether and 4,000 Stronghold health
  • Objective: Defeat all Enemies
  • 158 Enemies to beat
  • Enemies encountered: Lightning Tower, Hammer Squad, Sword Squad, Ranger, Bon Appeti
  • Card selection: Lightning Tower, Magma Tower, Stone Tower, Trebuchet Squad, Starfall, Bugsy

Place the Stone Tower on the third column on the left. Put two Magma Towers and several Lightning Towers behind it to defend against units.

Use Starfall on the Bon Appeti when she approaches and starts using its skill. Place a new Stone Tower when the old one is about to fall.

When only the towers are left, use Stone Towers to tank the tower shots and deploy Bugsy and a Trebuchet Squad to destroy them for the win.

Chapter 5 Done

If you’ve managed to follow my instructions and have enough leveled-up cards, congratulations! You now own another Power Key to unlock more cards. Chapter 6 is coming soon.
