Siraj Raval has used his 2018 Tesla Model 3 to mine bitcoins in almost every method possible.
He used free bitcoin mining software on his Apple Mac mini M1 and powered it with an inverter plugged into the 12-volt power connector in his car’s center console.
It is all worth the effort
He’s also attached interconnected graphics processing units, or GPUs, to the “frunk” of his Tesla, supplying them with the car’s internal battery.
Raval believes it is worthwhile, even if it means voiding his car warranty.
He claims he was earning up to $800 per month when the price of ether peaked in 2021.
Alejandro de la Torre, a Bitcoin miner, emphasized that mining with a Tesla is very similar to mining with any other power source.
“The cost of electricity is the most important factor. “If doing it in an electric vehicle is less expensive, then by all means do it,” de la Torre said.
How is it possible?
Chris Allessi, Wisconsin’s first electric car dealer, decided to fiddle with his Tesla in 2018.
Allessi is no stranger to such scenarios, as he manufactures custom electric cars in his leisure time and bills himself as a modern-day “Doc Brown,” the character from the film “Back to the Future” who converts an automobile into a time machine.
“I enjoy being around energy. I enjoy zapping and constructing things. You provide me with an electric motor, and I will provide you with a completed product,” he stated.
Allessi, like Raval, has experimented with a variety of methods for converting his Tesla Model S into a cryptocurrency mining machine.
Crypto mining, as used in the business, is an energy-intensive process in which devices all over the world donate their computational power to the broader network in order to create new coins and verify existing token transactions.
