Upper Princeton area storage buildings could offer future cannabis use

Peachland council has unanimously approved a conditional development permit for a couple of storage buildings that may contribute to a possible cannabis business in the future.

At their last regular meeting, Peachland council approved a Comprehensive (Form and Character) Development Permit allowing for the construction of two additional industrial buildings at 5440 McDougald Road.

The property is located in the Upper Princeton neighbourhood, and is the first industrial zoned property past the public works yard.

Darin Schaal, director of planning and development services, said both proposed buildings are prefabricated structures 5,000 square feet in size and will be used for the purposes of storage.

The form and character is essentially the same as the existing building and consistent with the Official Community Plan (OCP) guidelines for industrial sites, Schaal said, adding the OCP policies support the further development of industrial land to enhance economic viability and vitality.

The development permit will be withheld pending the satisfaction of the following conditions:

• Interior Health approval for the on-site sewage disposal system;
