TYLOO clinch Major spot over ViCi

Date:

IEM Fall Asia was a two-team affair since the beginning, with only TYLOO and ViCi in the running to take the single Asian spot up for grabs at the PGL Major Stockholm thanks to their Regional Major Ranking points, but it was finally the squad led by YuLun “Summer” Cai who came out on top after sweeping their Chinese compatriots in the grand final.

The two Chinese teams, the favorites at the tournament, started their runs at IEM Fall Asia with 2-0 victories over NKT and Checkmate, making clear their intentions of not blundering early on in the fight to make the grand final.

In the upper bracket final it was TYLOO who kept their record clean against ViCi, once again without dropping a map, to secure the crucial upper bracket berth into the final with the map advantage that comes with it.

ViCi rematched NKT in the lower bracket, handing the international Asian squad a 2-0 defeat to make sure they had one last chance at making the Major against their countrymen in an uphill grand final.

It wouldn’t be the first time that WeiJie “zhokiNg” Zhong and company beat TYLOO in a best-of-five final, as they did so last year at IEM Beijing-Haidian Asia and earlier this year at Perfect World League Season 1, albeit neither of them starting a map down.

This time around, however, TYLOO were quick to make their 1-0 map advantage into a 2-0 lead, taking ViCi out on what has historically been Zhuo “advent” Liang and company’s best map, Inferno, with stars Yi “JamYoung” Yang and Andrew “Kaze” Khong not making their presence felt as TYLOO set themselves up for a clean 3-0 going into their first map pick of the series.

TYLOO were quick to set the pace on the attacking side of Mirage to pursue a swift victory as they landed punch after punch while ViCi struggled to put together any form of defense in what ended up being an 11-4 half. A 3vs4 retake by TYLOO in the second pistol round then marked the beginning of the end for advent’s men as they saw their Major dreams vanish while TYLOO imposed their will to finish things off 16-5.
