It isn’t unusual for Call of Duty titles like Modern Warfare to see maps get deleted. It’s not always something the fans want, but it winds up going down that way anyway. The Call of Duty fanbase was looking for new content to play through/compete on, and at least, Infinity Ward came through. On March 31, Killhouse was updated and dropped into the game. We also got Al-Raab Airbase (6v6) and Drainage (Gunfight). Sadly, the second two maps didn’t seem to be in the game for much longer. Will they return? Was there a major issue that had to be ironed out? Time will tell.
Last Map Standing: Killhouse
Al-Raab Airbase was a gorgeous map and designed by the 2019 release’s campaign story. The exciting 6v6 map was admittedly bigger than normal when it comes to maps of that gameplay mode. That shouldn’t be a bad thing, but that’s where we are. Next was a Gunfight (2v2) map, Drainage. Set in Urzikstan, they were available for private lobbies only. That is, they were. The two Modern Warfare maps have since been deleted, and there’s no word on why yet.
What’s strange about this is that Infinity Ward never acknowledged Drainage or Al-Raab Airbase’s existence or removal. That makes us think maybe they weren’t ready to go into the game yet, and accidentally got added alongside Killhouse. Killhouse is still accessible in both private lobbies and has its own 24/7 playlist. These two maps were leaked on Reddit in December 2020, complete with screenshots and names.
The more we think about it, the more it simply could have been a mistake. Call of Duty isn’t a franchise where bugs and problems get resolved quickly, so that leads us to the presumption that the other two maps weren’t supposed to drop yet (if at all). It’s possible that because of the map leak Infinity Ward decided not to release them; that’s unlikely. Unfortunately, these two private lobby maps have been deleted in Modern Warfare without a single word being said about it. If this situation changes, we’ll return to it with all the details you need. For now, all we hear is silence.
