This is a really controversial incident that comes as a result of Mason’s Twitch ban. The former DOTA 2 pro was speaking quickly and allegedly stumbled over his words, inadvertently using a homophobic slur. One of the problems here is that this is not Mason’s first ban – it’s his fourth. Two of his bans, the reasons aren’t all too clear, but the first was for racism in his chat. What exactly happened in this situation though?

The Word Was Clear, But The Apology Was Quick:

Mason has a huge following on Twitch, post-pro-DOTA 2 play, with over 150,000 names behind him. His last ban was three months ago, but it’s not clear again, why that happened to Mason on Twitch at all. For a bit of context,  “Aghs” is short for “Aganim’s Scepter”, a powerful item in DOTA 2, the game he was streaming.

In the match, Mason goes on to say he’s “never a fan of the Aghs” on Riki. Unfortunately, the word he used was significantly different. You can watch the video clip here. He immediately apologized though:

“Oh my god! I didn’t mean to say that word… I think I just said the F word… I didn’t mean to say that.”
