Triumph upset Liquid to advance to IEM Beijing-Haidian grand final

Published

on

Liquid‘s run in IEM Beijing-Haidian came to an end in stunning fashion as they were felled by Triumph in their semi-final match-up, the AWP of Paytyn “junior” Johnson proving key in helping his side to a 2-1 victory (16-12 Inferno, 8-16 Dust2, 16-14 Nuke).

Triumph now await the winner of the second semi-final match between Chaos and Evil Geniuses, set to kick off at 22:00 on Saturday. The best-of-five grand final will award the champion with a spot in IEM Global Challenge as well as the lion’s share of the $70,000 prize pool.

Triumph have earned a spot in the IEM Beijing-Haidian grand final

Triumph got off to a strong start on their pick of Inferno, taking three rounds on the attack before triple kills from Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken and Jake “Stewie2K” Yip put Liquid on the board. However, rounds for Stewie2K and company were few and far between from that point forward, with junior and Alan “Shakezullah” Hardeman propelling their side to an 11-4 lead at the break.

A comeback seemed to be in the cards at the onset of the second half for Liquid, who won seven of the first eight rounds to bring themselves within one of their opposition. Multi-kill rounds from junior, Ryan “ryann” Welsh, and Shakezullah put a halt to Liquid‘s momentum, though, allowing Triumph to close out the map, 16-12.

Things took a grim turn for Triumph on Dust2 as Liquid found their footing, dominating on the attack round after round. An AWP ace from junior helped Triumph recover a 2vs5 situation, but that round win was just one of the two that Shakezullah‘s troops were able to secure in the first half as they trailed 2-13. A brief effort to fight back into the map saw Triumph move up to seven rounds following the side swap, but once Liquid had rifles in their hands, they wasted little time in closing out the map to move the series to a Nuke decider.

There, Triumph once again took an early lead, junior proving key in helping his side to a 7-1 start on the T side. However, Grim and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski stepped up to bat to keep Liquid in the running, winning seven in a row to edge out a one-round lead at halftime.

The scoreline was immediately tied up as Triumph took the final pistol of the series, using the momentum of the win to move up to a 12-8 lead. Liquid responded with a sequence of their own, but were sent reeling when a saved AWP from junior and a B bombsite stack from Triumph flipped the script, with Kaleb “moose” Jayne following up with a quad kill round to put his side on match point. Liquid made an attempt to fight for overtime, finding three additional rounds, but were felled by Triumph in round 30 to bring the series to a close.

An employee of T1 has tested positive for COVID-19, and now all T1 players and staff members are going to be tested as a safety precaution, the organization announced today via Twitter.

T1 said that no one else has shown symptoms for COVID, but it is still requiring all of its players to be tested.

Pokémon OCG Fusion Arts regular card list revealed

Published

on

Ahead of its release later this month, The Pokémon Company has revealed all the regular cards coming to the Japanese TCG set Fusion Arts.

Fusion Arts will launch on Sept. 24 and boasts not only a variety of psychic cards but also the new “Fusion” battle style mechanic that is sure to change things up for current deck builds. As is clear from the artwork of the set, Fusion Arts puts the legendary Pokémon Mew in the spotlight.

Along with Mew, other Pokémon receiving the full print VMAX treatment include Boltund, Chandelure, and Greedent. These cards will also all be available in standard V variations along with Genesect, Hoopa, Tsareena, and Crabominable.

The set also includes the previously revealed Deoxys card boasting all three battle styles, although it seems no other cards in the set have the same.

While Fusion Arts is only launching in Japan later this month, many of these cards will make their way into November’s English TCG set Fusion Strike.

While these are all the normal cards in the set, there will be secret rare cards revealed early next week which will also be included in this upcoming set. You can check out a full list of all the normal cards in Fusion Arts courtesy of PokeBeach here.

Vaporeon VMAX, Jolteon VMAX, and Flareon VMAX Premium Collections to release for Pokémon TCG on Dec. 3

Published

on

As part of the Winter wave of Pokémon TCG products, a new collection of special premium items featuring Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon is set to release on Dec. 3.

The three original Eeveelutions will be the faces of these three “VMAX Premium Collections,” which will feature promotional variants of all three Pokémon in their V and VMAX card forms.

In total, each of the Vaporeon VMAX, Jolteon VMAX, and Flareon VMAX Premium Collections will include a promo card of the collection’s respective mascot as Pokémon V, VMAX, and oversized VMAX promo cards. It will also include a pin depicting the Pokémon, a metallic coin featuring all three classic Eeveelutions, and six assorted Booster Packs, along with a product code to use for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online

The set will cost $39.99, although the European version will cost £37.99 because it only comes with five Booster Packs and does not include the metallic coin. Additionally, only 3,000 units of this product set are slated to release in Japan, with distribution being handled through a lottery campaign, according to PokéBeach.

The main reason to grab these products is the alternate art versions of Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon V and VMAX being included as promos are going to feature alternate art that was cut from the most recent set, Evolving Skies. This will let players finish the alternate art set of Eeveelutions since the rest were included in that product.

The Vaporeon VMAX, Jolteon VMAX, and Flareon VMAX Premium Collections will be up for sale at select retailers on Dec. 3, with pre-orders likely going live several weeks in advance online.

New Wild Area Event begins in Pokémon Sword and Shield starring shiny Solrock and Lunatone

Published

on

Pokémon Sword and Shield have just begun their latest Wild Area Max Raid Event, and this week, it stars two astronomy-themed Pokémon who will be available both in regular and shiny variants.

Starring in the event is Lunatone and Solrock who will appear in Max Raid Battles for the next three days until midnight Sunday.

Unlike other events, these will be the only two Pokémon available in all-tier of raid battle. Shiny Variants will begin appearing in five-star raids. While it can be subtle, you’ll notice whether Lunatone is shiny or not depending on the color of its eye. Red is the regular color, while Blue indicates a shiny variant.

For Solrock, the difference is glaringly obvious as in its regular form Solrock has an orange face and its shiny variant has bright red.

Outside of these two Pokémon, there aren’t any other unique changes to the Wild Area this week. If you are looking to collect shiny Pokémon, don’t miss this opportunity to tick two off of your list before the weekend is out.
