Guilty Gear Strive ships 300,000 units 3 days after launch

ArcSystemWorks have hit a hot streak with Guilty Gear Strive, announcing that the game has surpassed 300,000 units sold just three days after officially hitting the global gaming market.

This is incredibly positive news for ArcSys and, more importantly, the Guilty Gear franchise, because it shows that the game has broken through the niche fighting game label and reached a much larger audience with its latest release.

Sales figures for the franchise are scarce, but according to game tracking website VGChartz, some of the newer titles like Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 have only sold around 100,000 units lifetime on PlayStation 4. This doesn’t include PC sales, which could bump that number up for certain titles like GGXrd and GG XX Accent Core Plus R, which have both seen more recent improvements.

GGST was originally supposed to launch April 9, but after a delay it was released worldwide on June 11, with players who pre-ordered deluxe editions of the game digitally getting early access to the full game on June 8.

The initial response from the GG and general fighting game community has been very positive, with most complaints still being pinned on the game’s multiplayer lobby system or server errors. If the game continues to draw people in with its fun gameplay and strong netcode, ArcSys might be able to take build the franchise up to rival many of the bigger names in the scene with its seventh mainline installment.

AS Monaco Gambit adds eine to Dota 2 roster ahead of The International 10 regional qualifiers

AS Monaco Gambit suffered a big blow prior to the WePlay Esports AniMajor when both No[o]ne and SoNNeikO left the team to join Natus Vincere instead of competing.

Now, after having been eliminated in the Wild Card round for a second straight Major and needing to compete for a spot at The International 10 in the CIS regional qualifier, Gambit has finalized its revamped roster.

Previously, Gambit brought in Artem “Lorenof” Melnick and Stanislav “633” Glushan as stand-ins for the AniMajor, but only Lorenof will be sticking around for the qualifiers. Now, Albert “eine” Garaev is being signed from the Gambit-2 roster and will takeover the main support role.

  • Kiyalbek “dream” Tayirov
  • Lorenof
  • Vasilii “AfterLife” Shishkin
  • Aleksandr “Immersion” Khmelevskoi
  • eine
  • Anatoly “boo1k” Ivanov (coach)

Eine, along with Lorenof, was part of the original Gambit roster that became Gambit-2 when the organization signed Live to Win’s roster during the first half of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit.

Gambit will be playing in the CIS TI10 regional qualifier from June 23 to 26, fighting for one of six remaining spots against the likes of Team Spirit and Na’Vi.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Structure Deck R: Lost Sanctuary to include new Hyperion Synchro Monster, The Agent support, and more

Konami has revealed new details about Structure Deck R: Lost Sanctuary, which is revamping the original Lost Sanctuary deck that was released in 2011 for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG.

Just like many expected, the deck include new support for Master Hyperion and The Agent series of monsters, along with some The Sanctuary in the Sky and more general Fairy support. From the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Japan post, we got details for three new cards, all of which are retrained or new Agent cards, starting with a level 10 Synchro Monster, Master Flare Hyperion.

Master Flare Hyperion has 3,200 attack, 2,600 defense, and can only be Synchro summoned using a Tuner and a non-Tuner Fairy monster. It has two effects that benefit a lot of cards in Lost Sanctuary, though they can each only be used once per turn.

Flare Hyperion’s first effect allows it to send one The Agent monster or a monster that lists The Sanctuary of the Sky in its text from the hand, Deck, or Extra Deck to the Graveyard. If you do, Flare Hyperion’s card name becomes that of the sent monster’s and it gains the monster’s original effects.

Its second effect allows you to banish one Fairy monster in your GY or hand when your opponent activates a card or effect, and then banish target one card on the field to banish. Another Hyperion variant, Majesty Hyperion, is also being released in this deck, and it has three powerful effects.

  • One per turn you can Special Summon a Majesty Hyperion from your hand or GY by banishing one The Agent monster from your hand, field, or GY.
  • All battle damage you take form battles involving your Fairy monsters is also inflicted to your opponent.
  • Once per turn, you can banish one Fairy monster from your hand or GY, then target one card in either GY and banish it. If a copy of The Sanctuary of the Sky is on the field or in the GY, you can activate this effect up to twice per turn.

The final new card shown in this update was The Agent of Life – Neptune, a level one Fairy monster that lets you easily Special Summon The Agent and Hyperion monsters when it is in your hand, and search for The Sanctuary of the Sky when it is banished.

Here are all of the cards that were also confirmed to be coming as reprints in Structure Deck R: Lost Sanctuary when it releases for the OCG on Aug. 7.

  • The Agent of Judgment – Saturn
  • The Agent of Wisdom – Mercury
  • The Agent of Force – Mars
  • The Agent of Miracles – Jupiter
  • The Agent of Entropy – Uranus
  • Mystical Shine Ball
  • The Sanctuary in the Sky
  • Cards from the Sky
  • The Agent of Mystery – Earth
  • The Agent of Creation – Venus

More details about Structure Deck R: Lost Sanctuary will be shared in the August issue of V Jump magazine.

Ludwig donates over $350,000 to charities with earnings from Subathon stream

After hosting a massively successful Subathon stream during April and May, popular Twitch streamer Ludwig announced that the final donations had gone through to charities with earnings from the stream.

In a post by one of the streamer’s close friends Slime, he shared that over $350,000 was being donated overall to six different organizations.

Of these organizations, $200,000 went to the No Kid Hungry charity whose goal is to end childhood hunger in the U.S., $57,065 to the Humane Society animal welfare non-profit, and another went to $57,065 St Jude children’s research hospital. The remaining donation money went to CO Homeless Coalition, Free Meal Program University District, and a final $10,000 went to Slime’s old school.

This huge donation was made possible thanks to the subscribers supporting Ludwig’s stream over its duration. In its final hours, Ludwig agreed to increase the amount he would donate per subscriber to $5.

During this campaign, the streamer broke the record for the highest all-time subscriber count on Twitch, overtaking Ninja’s previous record with a total of roughly 282,000 subscribers. The stream was initially planned to run for around 24 hours, but after the platform rallied behind the streamer and the causes his subathon represented, it wound up lasting a whole lot longer.

The stream that began on May 14 ran until April 13 and saw Ludwig and his audience come together to gather this life-changing money that will be used to support thousands of people.
