Triumph, ATK claim final spots in IEM Fall NA

Date:

The closed qualifier for IEM Fall North America has come to an end, seeing ATK and Triumph book the final two spots in the main event after beating RBG and Strife, respectively, in the lower bracket.

Both matches required coaches to step in on a map for one of their players, with Strife being the team that ended up the worst off as one of their members was suffering from chest issues, requiring a hospital visit.

The team faired poorly without David “J0LZ” Jolin at full strength in their series, and were subjected to a battering from Triumph. After leading by five rounds at halftime on Nuke, Danny “cxzi” Strzelczyk‘s side wasted little time in closing things out, before laying waste to Strife on Overpass with a 16-0 victory.

ATK, meanwhile, succeeded in their effort to beat RBG, scoring a win in three maps despite needing to use their coach Daniel “sprayxd” Kogan over Ian “motm” Hardy on Vertigo. Despite trailing 2-9 at the start of the map, a stellar T side from the South African squad allowed for them to recover and clinch a narrow win, 16-13.

However, they were quickly dealt a heavy blow on Nuke, where an inspired performance from motm was not enough to help his team be competitive in the map, with RBG converting a 14-1 halftime lead to force a Mirage decider. There, the teams remained deadlocked at the break, but it was once again a strong showing on the T side that helped ATK close things out, 16-12, to qualify for the main event.

IEM Fall North America is set to run from October 5 to 10, and will offer the final share of Regional Major Ranking points to competing teams ahead of the PGL Stockholm Major.
