Toyota Kirloskar partners with Karnataka government to train ITI students

Date:

An MoU has been entered into by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and the Government of Karnataka, which will see students from ITIs across 31 districts in Karnataka being trained by TKM. As the industrial training provider, TKM will help develop skilled human resources for manufacturing units and first-time entrepreneurs, and prepare youth for the high-volume production expected in the manufacturing sector, given the Centre’s focus on the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat missions.

The training programme will target the youth who are enrolled at the ITIs. August onwards, admissions to the programme will begin. The 96-hour long intensive programme will be focussed on imparting skills in the area of automobile assembly. The training will be imparted by certified Toyota trainers equipped with hands-on knowledge in the Toyota Production System. The students will require to clear an exam post completion of the training. The exam will be conducted by the ITIs in partnership with TKM. Only those who pass this exam will be eligible for apprenticeship in the automotive industry.

About 12,000 youth have already received training from TKM through its Apprenticeship program. The Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) has given rise to over 700 industry-ready technicians. More than 2,685 engineering students from 23 colleges across Karnataka have been trained by TKM via EV technology webinars. It has also hosted the Karnataka State Skill Competition in five trades and trained 482 youth.
