Top 10 Best Crypto Instagrams to Follow

Getting to Grips with the Gram

It’s easy to feel conflicted about Instagram. It seems somehow more relaxed than Twitter, less stuffed with angry, opinionated folks all arguing with each other.

It’s a visual medium that encourages creativity, letting people share images and videos of what they find beautiful, inspiring, funny, uplifting and much else besides. The reliance on imagery transcends languages, allowing users to connect with others from all corners of the globe.

That’s the sell. There are downsides, of course. Unsavoury types lurk on Instagram, just as they do on every other social network. Much of the content is bland, vacuous nonsense that fuels consumerism and vanity.

Corporate shills lie in wait, pushing advertising on us by stealth. ‘Inspirational’ hot air is impossible to avoid. The much-mocked tribe of influencers are right at home here, living their best lives and making the rest of us feel inadequate. A person’s Insta page is only ever a simulacrum of their real life.

Mark Zuckerberg

Then there’s the elephant – or rather the Zuckerberg – in the room. Instagram has been owned by Facebook since 2012, a fact that has far-reaching consequences for users’ data and privacy. The pallid, droid-like CEO of one of the most controversial companies out there holds sway over Insta’s 1 billion active monthly users. That means user data is stored on Facebook’s servers and used to generate the ad revenue which keeps the Zuck in t-shirts and face polish.

Instagram is an important asset for Facebook. Over 70% of those 1 billion users are under 35, a stat which helps offset Facebook’s own ageing demographic. Through Instagram, Facebook can harvest and sell the data of a younger audience than it might otherwise be able to get its grubby hands on. As with WhatsApp, it’s important to know that the free services we enjoy have a hidden cost somewhere. As the old saying goes, if you’re not paying for a product, then you are the product.

So, it’s not all roses. Using Insta comes with a whole load of caveats, but, if you’re comfortable with those, there are few better ways of getting yourself out there. Celebrities love it and use the platform as a cornerstone of their personal brands, however much they may claim it brings them ‘closer to their fans’.

But it’s not just the rich and famous who have benefitted. Thousands of ordinary people have built businesses that rely almost solely on the Gram, while for many thousands more it acts as a vital shop window. Love it or loathe it, Instagram is here to stay and has fundamentally altered the way many of us go about our online lives.

It’s no surprise therefore to see the cryptocurrency industry embracing Instagram. A huge range of accounts share news, opinions, memes and inspiration with followers often numbering in the hundreds of thousands. In many ways crypto and Insta are natural bedfellows, both beloved by the young and often mistrusted, misunderstood or mocked by older generations.

As a result, of course, there’s now a bewildering array of crypto Instagrammers out there and knowing who to follow can be tricky. As with other platforms, there are plenty of accounts that exist solely to shill any coin or token they can in search of a quick profit – these should be avoided at all costs. Helpfully for you though, we here at the Coin Bureau have put our heads together and come up with a list of our favourite Insta crypto pages.

Some provide news, some are prominent crypto personalities or influencers and others are just a joyful parade of memes. It’s worth pointing out that, while these are all great accounts to follow, you should make sure to get your crypto news from a variety of other sources too. Insta is great for a short, sharp hit of crypto, but if you want to dive deeper into this ever-expanding field then be sure to use other resources like CoinDesk and, of course, YouTube.

So, here are the top ten best crypto Instagrams, as recommended by the team here at the Bureau. Check them out, follow the ones you like the look of and remember to eat, sleep and shower every now and again. This stuff can get addictive.

The Top 10

1. Coin Bureau

Ah, come on. We were never going to pass up an opportunity like this, were we? The Coin Bureau YouTube channel may be the go-to place for all the latest and greatest on everything crypto, but if you want a bit more from Guy and the team, then check out our fast-growing Insta page too.

This is a great place to go for quick bites of crypto news, as well as a plentiful supply of crypto memes and some behind-the-scenes footage from Coin Bureau HQ in London. If you’ve ever wondered what went on at the Bureau outside of our studio, or wanted to get a quick lowdown from the man himself on what videos to expect over the coming days, then this is where to go.

Guy at Coin Bureau

It’s no secret in the office that Guy harbours a growing desire to become both a meme lord and bona fide Instagram influencer, as well as everyone’s favourite crypto YouTuber. It remains to be seen whether this comes to pass, but keep an eye on the page to see if it does.

It’s also a great opportunity to see some of our latest merch designs, get tasty clips from our videos and share in the ups and downs of the crypto markets. Let’s just hope Guy doesn’t start doing make-up tutorials…

2. TheCryptograph

If you want an easy and up-to-date way to stay abreast of all the latest developments in crypto then check out TheCryptograph. Regular posts give a good, bite-sized outline of the latest crypto news stories for those on the go, while the page itself has a nicely consistent visual style.

The Cryptograph

The Cryptograph on Insta

A lot of crypto Insta pages focus almost exclusively on bitcoin and are often chock-full of clickbait and hype. TheCryptograph is different and presents the sort of news anyone serious about crypto and blockchain needs to read. With 106k followers, the page is growing steadily and should be a must-follow for anyone who wants to keep abreast of what’s going on in the crypto space.

Some interesting recent posts take a look at the likes of crypto adoption in Nigeria and Asia, India’s crypto crackdown and China’s continued rollout of its digital Yuan. Those are alongside the usual stories of bitcoin’s corporate uptake and some bullish price predictions, but it’s great to see an Insta crypto account that takes a global view.

3. CryptoManiaks

Perhaps we should be loath to recommend another crypto education platform, but we take our hat off to CryptoManiaks nonetheless. If you’re new to crypto and wondering what the heck it’s all about, then this Insta account is a must.

In visual terms, CryptoManiaks have nailed the fine line between eye-friendly graphics and information-packed posts and their distinctive theme makes the page a joy to scroll through. There are the usual quotes and stats about how bitcoin is the future, (we know) but mixed in with helpful explanations such as the difference between public and private keys, or a mini glossary of crypto terms.

The team behind CryptoManiaks clearly know and love their crypto and whoever’s doing their graphics deserves a pay rise. The account has nearly 250k followers and you can bet that number is going to keep on climbing.

4. CryptoHumor

And now for something completely different. While TheCryptograph may be a serious news outlet, sometimes we all need a good meme to brighten our day. Or maybe an entire account full of memes – it depends what sort of day you’re having.

Well, look no further than CryptoHumor, who specialise in nothing but. You really have to hand it to anyone who’s ready to post a meme featuring Jay-Z’s Big Pimpin’ video every time BTC breaks another thousand-dollar barrier (they’ve been posting it rather a lot recently). That takes some balls.

Some memes are inspired and others… well, less so, but damn are they addictive. Be warned, therefore: a visit to CryptoHumor means you run the risk of being dragged into the gravitational pull of a crypto meme black hole. Sure, they mostly revolve around mocking no-coiners and pretty much make the same joke each time, but that won’t stop you scrolling and scrolling. Mind you, you can only watch Big Pimpin’ so many times.

5. Ethereum_updates

Anyone new to crypto could be forgiven for thinking that it’s all about bitcoin. The OG crypto and its continued gains may hog most of the headlines and preoccupy a good deal of crypto Insta pages, but there are other coins out there too, you know.

Ethereum_updates is rightly one of the most popular crypto Instas out there, with close on a quarter of a million followers, all keen to keep up to date with what’s happening with… yep, Ethereum. Like TheCryptograph, this is a page dedicated to news, with nary a meme in sight and so is a great resource for those busily engaged in doing their own research and not spending all day giggling at Big Pimpin’.

It’s important to remember than crypto goes well beyond BTC and that even some of the big institutional investors are also sinking funds into ETH and other altcoins besides. As such, any resource which focusses elsewhere than bitcoin is a useful one and Ethereum_updates should be on your radar if you want to keep your view of the crypto space as balanced as your portfolio.

6. ShareCrypto

Another crypto news page, with all the requisite graphics and regular posts you’d expect. Where ShareCrypto goes above and beyond though is in reporting on the stories that many other accounts neglect. Recent posts include an update on Akon’s Akoin venture, as well as some much-needed DeFi-themed content. The ShareCrypto account is often the place to go to get those stories that might otherwise fly under the radar of other crypto Instagrammers.

ShareCrypto insta

ShareCrypto is also one of the better Insta accounts for news pieces on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) – a brainchild of mainstream finance which is going to become a bigger and bigger deal in crypto over the next few years.

Governments and bankers are waking up to the potential of crypto and are taking determined steps to make sure they harness its power for their own ends. Guy himself has covered CBDCs over on the Coin Bureau YouTube channel, but many are still unaware of what’s around the corner. Any Insta account which draws attention to them is doing a good service in our estimation.

7. Coingrams

Another black hole to fall down is that of fascinating facts, which is where Coingrams comes in. It’s got plenty of stats and anecdotes about bitcoin, blockchain and mainstream businesses that can make hours disappear if you’re not careful. There are a few inspirational quotes and memes to keep you going too, but it’s the factoids that keep you coming back for more.

The obligatory Elon Musk post. Image via Instagram

Coingrams also posts videos with prominent business figures and investors and has a borderline unhealthy obsession with figures such as Elon Musk and Warren Buffet. That said, plenty of other crypto Insta pages do too and, given what Elon’s been up to over the last few weeks, it’s probably fair to say that most of us are spending a bit too much time thinking about him these days. His tweets about BTC and DOGE have had the markets going crazy, to say nothing of Tesla’s decision to invest $1.5 billion into BTC.

If you’re the sort of entrepreneurial go-getter who regards hard graft as a basic human right, then you’re sure to find your spiritual home on Coingrams. When you feel your energy flagging after a bruising day in the markets, then seek out the page to find something to lift your spirits. Don’t overdo it on the energy drinks though.

8. Cointelegraph

Those of us who have been kicking around in crypto for a while now will be more than familiar with Cointelegraph, one of the most respected crypto news outlets around. Its always-up-to-date website and those distinctive graphics have long made it a standout platform and its Insta page is a great place to get the latest big stories in bite-sized form.

Coin Telegraph Insta

Coin Telegraph Instagram Page.

Cointelegraph has been around since 2013 and exhaustively documents all the goings-on in crypto, blockchain and fintech. Its main website is the place to go for the nitty-gritty, but if you’re pressed for time then a drop by its Insta account is always worthwhile. While its always happy to fuel the hype, you can be confident you’ll also be getting the story behind it all too.

If you’re looking to make yourself an expert in crypto then the Cointelegraph site should be a regular stop on your daily journey into Cryptoville. Save the Insta page for the journey home.

9. Krypticrooks

While most of the Insta accounts we’ve covered so far have many thousands of followers, Krypticrooks is a little smaller by comparison. With less than a thousand followers at the time of writing, we reckon this could be the Instagram equivalent of a low-cap gem waiting to 100x.

Rather than the usual memes or clumsily put-together images, Krypticrooks specialises in edgy one-panel cartoons, most of which have a crypto flavour. The artwork is brilliantly executed and pokes fun at no-coiners, regulators and many others besides. They have a Twitter too, which is rather more baffling, so stick to the Insta and get their follower count up. Keep an eye on this one because we think it’s going places.

10. bvbtc (Brekkie von Bitcoin)

Crypto isn’t short of big personalities and crypto Insta has a few of its own. One of our favourites is Brekkie von Bitcoin, ‘an artist and advocate for Bitcoin based in Los Angeles, California.’ Brekkie’s Insta page has something for everyone, with a generally more sophisticated standard of meme than others (no Big Pimpin’ here) alongside photos of the man himself and some frankly gorgeous pictures of the California countryside.

Brekkie has many strings to his bow, being also responsible for the Blockchain and Morty videos, as well as the creative director at Swan Bitcoin. He’s also got a decent range of swag, though not as good as some, naturally.

And a Few Honourable Mentions…

There’s so much crypto content out there on the Gram and so many accounts posting it that it’s impossible to give a shout out to all the ones we like. Our top ten reflects our current favourites, but there are others snapping at their heels, including the following.

Charles Hoskinson IOHK

This crypto OG’s page would be in our top 10 if only he posted more. That said, the Ethereum co-founder and Cardano overlord is a busy man and almost certainly has better things to do with his time than post on the Gram. Charles has only posted five times in total but maybe he’ll see the appeal of becoming a meme machine before too long. He has over 10 thousand followers, so it’s probably safe to assume that the day can’t be far off…

Girl Gone Crypto

Another crypto educator, but we love how she makes her videos both funny and informative. Lea is also a talented speaker and content creator who regularly makes the case for wider crypto and blockchain adoption.

Her blog also contains a wealth of interesting reads and she also claims to work for tacos, which is something we can all get on board with.

Cardano_updates

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Keeps track of ADA’s price swings and any Cardano-related stories doing the rounds. Cardano is a hugely popular project with the team here at the Bureau and we like to stay abreast of all developments as they happen.

Miss.Zulpipi

Our favourite Instagram model for the way she lives unashamedly well and likes to dabble in trading too. On her Binance account, she reportedly holds Ethereum, Zilliqa, Dogecoin, Polkadot, and Chainlink, which suggests she knows her stuff when it comes to crypto. That’s the type of adoption we like to see!

Satoshi Nakamoto Official

Not really, of course, but we do like seeing pictures of the fake Satoshi getting exasperated and loving the attention both at the same time.

Insta and Crypto: A Good Thing Going

Spend too long on crypto Insta and you can start to feel like you’ve disappeared into a vortex of memes, inspirational quotes and pictures of Elon Musk. If Instagram is your sole source of crypto knowledge, then you need to branch out. While it may be great for a quick hit, if you’re serious about investing in the financial revolution then you need to dive deeper than the good folks on the Gram can take you.

That said, Insta is doing wonders to help spread the word about crypto and its young demographic will help fuel continued adoption past the point when the current bull market comes to an end. It will be interesting to see how some of the hype and hopium merchants react when the mad gains we’ve been seeing start to slow, but you can bet that the crypto evangelists will always be there with a handy meme when it matters.
