Popular Chinese short video app TikTok has reportedly started laying off employees. These layoffs have mainly happened in the U.S and European markets. However, mind you, the Chinese company has so far not announced any official news about layoffs. This news actually broke out when several TikTok employees announced on Twitter and LinkedIn posts that they have been asked to voluntarily leave the company. The Chinese company is also reportedly planning to scale down many of its ambitious projects. Over the years the TikTok app has almost become a rage, with the app currently boosting almost 1 Bn monthly active users.

With its eye on Metaverse, Facebook had changed its name to Meta in October last year. However, this decision seems to have backfired. Turns out that Mark Zuckerberg’s company has been sued by an art installation company, whose official name is also META. Yes, you heard it right. Zuckerberg’s company Meta has been sued by a company whose name is also Meta. The art installation company has accused the social media company of trademark violation, accusing that Zuckerberg’s company illegally stole its brand name. The company has also accused that the several recent scandals surrounding Mark Zuckerberg’s company has equally badly impacted its art installation business.

YouTube Suspends Oppo India Channel

In a bizarre incident, YouTube ended up temporarily suspending Oppo India’s YouTube Channel on Monday. What’s really shocking, Oppo India’s channel got suspended right in the middle of the live streaming event of its much-anticipated launch of its Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro smartphones. YouTube said that it was forced to pull down the channel because the Chinese company had allegedly violated its terms and conditions. Interestingly, this development took place barely days after Oppo India was slapped with a penalty of over Rs 4,000 crores for import duty evasion charges. Other popular Chinese smartphone companies like Vivo and Xiaomi are also currently facing investigation by Indian tax authorities.
