The NHP Foundation (NHPF) Recognized as 42nd Annual Telly Award…

Date:

NHPF has been awarded a 2021 Gold Telly Award for a video telling the history of Baltimore’s affordable housing from decades-old segregation in high poverty areas to the successful single-family scattered site rental housing at Hollander Ridge, provided by NHPF.

The video entitled “Unconventional Affordable Housing: Yes! In My Backyard“ is the Gold Telly Winner in Non-Broadcast: Diversity and Inclusion and the Silver Telly Winner in Non-Broadcast: Social Impact. The video demonstrates how NHPF, with help from the Housing Authority of Baltimore City, acquired and rehabilitated 94 units of affordable housing and is part of the overall positive progress the City has made in providing much needed housing for people of low and middle income.

NHPF collaborated with Devon Brown, Brown Multimedia, a Baltimore-based video storyteller who blended historic and contemporary footage with impassioned interviews from local housing experts including famed author Antero “Not in my Neighborhood” Pietila and Johns Hopkins University

Professor Nathan Connolly.

The Telly Awards honor groundbreaking video work “across all screens.” NHPF also won a Telly Award for its 2018 video “Delivering On Our Commitment.” In 2018 and 2021, NHPF’s entries were the only ones from an affordable housing developer to be so honored.

“This powerful, compelling video tells the NHPF story in the context of historical events and helps new audiences understand the importance of housing all Americans affordably,” said Thomas G. Vaccaro, NHPF SVP, External Affairs, who worked closely to produce the video, “And we thank Devon Brown and all video participants for going above and beyond in creating this award-winning piece.”
